One of the nicest features of Vanilla (this forum board) is the ability to define attributes in your personal data. When you mouse over my tab "heresybob", you'll see this stuff below. It's one of the best designed ways of giving communication linkage I've found. And it's linked. :)

@Stygmata if you just google for Mobile Twitter Clients, it'll come up with a great big long fuckoff list of the bastard things. Well, one of the links in the search results will be the big long list, to be specific. It contains brief little synopses of each and a link to where to download from. There's a few Windows specific clients there, a very small handful of Symbios 60 clients, and a helluva lot of Java ones. Try whatever sounds interesting though, cos I tried one of the Java apps on my S60 OS and it worked fine.

I'm using Twibble at the moment, its simple and does the job for me, but only shows one page of updates. However, the job was working on a gallery website, and promoting the trust that funds it via all internet portals was on the job spec, so it's in line with what I would have to do. Besides, even if they did scale the walls of my privacy settings, they would only find out that I love Lost, adored In The Loop, and thought the finale of Battlestar Galactica was a colossal mess. Unless someone at the gallery has recently changed their name to Kara Thrace, I reckon I'm okay.

As for Twitter, so far I've found out that Wil Wheaton likes a sport of some kind (he spent all night discussing the teams but I couldn't figure out what they were playing), Rob Corddry has been punching Canadians, Graham Linehan is pretty much "on" all the time, Alyson Hannigan is loving being a mom, and Whitchapel Twitterers are lovely, friendly people. I consider my life improved by it, even just after one night. There is indeed back-and-forth communication, either publicly or via direct messaging. Writers can get plenty from Twitter, but I love Whitechapel, too. I don't post a lot because I often find myself listening on WC. When I'm working on big projects, I can fall into the little bubble that's my own brain, so it's interesting to hear about what others are looking at and reading.

I've learned to like Twitter mostly for its restrictions. People complain about not how short discourse is there, but I think that restriction can enhance writing. That's the entire history of poetry. Saying something interesting or amusing in 140 characters is a great game and a fun discipline. I disagree. There tend to be quite a few cases of keyboard diarrhea, with my Twitter stream filling up the dozens of posts all by the same person. I generally stop following them after three or four bursts of those, but some, like Joe Quesada's, are actually interesting and informative.

I look at Twitter as an exercise in letting go. I'm not on there a lot, but when I am, it's like I've just wandered into a conversation. I only go back a few dozen posts and if I have anything to add to the conversation (or if I've got some new topic to share), I do. I'm sure I miss plenty, but that's fine. If I didn't then I'd have to be on there all the time.

I enjoy the challenge of writing as the little number ticks down to 0 or negative- something. There is a endless possibility pulling back from these numbers beyond 0 and trying again, a luxury few things so satisfyingly have put quantities to.

I think I may have made one (1) friend from here that I then 'friend- ed' over at the ghost town known as myspace, I do not think anyone I know is on the WC and on facebook and now I follow Mr. Ellis about reading his great and terrible works.

I just feel verbose because I too always hold out until the last minute and find as much out before there is no time for before left... follow me? I hope so.
