Looking back over the entire thread... I must say that twitter pleases my sense in so much as there is no bells /whistles factor.
I enjoy the challenge of writing as the little number ticks down to 0 or negative- something. There is a endless possibility pulling back from these numbers beyond 0 and trying again, a luxury few things so satisfyingly have put quantities to.
I think I may have made one (1) friend from here that I then 'friend- ed' over at the ghost town known as myspace, I do not think anyone I know is on the WC and on facebook and now I follow Mr. Ellis about reading his great and terrible works.
I just feel verbose because I too always hold out until the last minute and find as much out before there is no time for before left... follow me? I hope so.
Anyway, I still can not figure out how to cut and paste the g'd link so eff'! I even tried pasting into Word and then back onto here... Damn you people who exceed my skills in such things!
Just started mine today I don't know too much about the whole twitter thing, but figured should start. Tonight I will be discussing zombie gold fish as I work on a script on the web show my friend and I are creating.
GAH! Finally completely done with the Twitter mystery I was doing. Never again. Now the only reason I have to go to Twitter is to see if Warren made his balls glow in the dark again.
I have a personal Twitter account too, but I still can't see the point for the service for private people (as opposed to celebrities, bands, brands and other people who have something to promote). It's like sending SMS's to nobody.
Gah! Just added all of you, took like an hour. Nice to see you all though. I'm a Twitter addict... I like to follow as many people as possible, and just wander randomly into various chats... I think email / FB are better for meeting your mates and so on, but I like using Twitter for short bursts. It's the human race, dramatising their life in real time! Who'd miss that?
Not sure if I have put my two cents into this thread yet, so:
Weaponizer - this is me, I post about food, comics, movies, weird shit, and use this account as a micro-feed for the site I run. I'm also pretty into doing the whole #FollowFriday / #MusicMonday thing. I am an infection vector.
Black Lantern Music - this is an account for a netlabel I'm launching imminently (so imminently!!), so followfollow if ya wants the free musicks. Promise this one will have less inane ranting from me.
I'm late to this party, but I talk nonsense at stevencudahy.
I need to go through this thread and find more interesting people to follow. It's like getting to watch other people doing some sort of primal scream therapy. The fact that appeals to me, well, I don't know if that's a good thing or not...
Just checked to see if I've posted in this particular thread before, and I haven't, so, in a desperate attempt to lessen the solipsistic nature of my twitter-existence (I considered writing twitsistence, but thought better of it) - @madswinther is me. Standard disclaimers and caveats vis-á-vis pointlessness of tweets apply. But I do try to be interesting sometimes, and I'd certainly be happy to have more non-bot followers. Did a thorough cleanup a little while back, and ended up with 17 "real" followers. And one of them is @stephenfry, who, while it was very nice of him to follow everyone back for a while there, probably doesn't really notice my tweets between the 54.000 others.
So basically: Random thoughts about whatever interests me (movies, TV, comics, computer games, naked ladies mudwrestling - the usual), the occasional joke - which I promise at least seemed funny when I was typing it, and recently, complaining about how long the process of replacing a faulty motherboard is.
There. Don't you just feel positively compelled to follow me now?
This twitter account of mine is locked due to the top secret nature of my snacks, but if I can figure out who you are I'll almost certainly let you see.
I haven't tweeted in three months, i forget i have the thing, but if you want it here it is.. I mostly tweet on road trips, plane trips, and days when i want to walk to the store for milk
Though I do follow Big Ben thanks to that link from the Stuff around the net posting :)
I can be located here, if you really can't contain yoursel... you can? Oh.
I mostly use it to post puns and double entendres (which only I tend to find amusing, sadly), and re-tweeting whatever point Zizek (or whoever hides behind the avatar) has just tried to reduce to 140 characters. Such as "Too bad Walt Disney didn't know how to cryogenize Lenin" or "Currently writing a short piece on daylight savings time and apartheid".
