i am at work so i cant listen to those listed...i see a lot of bands from LA living in phoenix though. im guessing my favorites wouldnt be to most's liking, but heres some i know of that are more in the rocknroll/indie/ fun
MIKA MIKO-lovelovelove this band. all female sloppy rock and roll party!
NO AGE- everyone is either falling over themselves to kiss this bands ass, or will be doing so shortly. they actually deserve it though-two (sometimes three now?) piece, angular weird rock with a drummer who is great to watch.
WAVVES-lo-fi pop
HEALTH-another awesome live show to see, mixing electronics with semi-spastic post-punk. they play to packed rooms already, i think in LA they have a pretty big hipster draw...so thats your call whether you want to deal with that.
ABE VIGODA-friends with the NO AGE dudes, they play a lot of the same shows. i havent heard them, but a lot of people with decent taste seem to like them
thats all i can think of off the top of my head, except for the powerviolence/grind bands that i like such as DESPISE YOU, LACK OF INTEREST, and GRAF ORLOCK. if you like brutal hardcore i can give you another 20 or so, hahaha
They're a bit niche, but I love the hell out of 'em: Creature Feature. Be sure to check out "Aim for the Head."
Harder to find online, but worth looking up if you're at all into the rockabilly scene - The Ghastly Ones.
And this is from someone who hates zombie movies and typically avoids horror movies. Um...I have odd friends.
Totally different are the Spazmodics. Or perhaps were, I'm having a bitch of a time finding anything on them online. They used to be a sorta geek rock group who did a killer rap about dolphins the one time I saw them.
Otherwise I dunno... pick up an LA Weekly and if something catches your eye look them up on YouTube and/or Myspace.
