If you've ever read Charles Dickens broken up as his work was published (he was paid per word over serial publishing), there's something similar going on here. Freak Angels seems to have no pressure to end in a specific 18 pages, so its a treat - the characterization is allowed to grow vs. "let's cut to the fight scene."
I think the last two "weeks" has been the best. The looks on everyone's faces during the teleport last ep compared to the stark painful reality this ep.
Been a shitty week, was at home sick for most of it. But things are looking up today, first of all it´s Freakangelsfriday, and then there will be beer tonight....
I feel proud of the Freakangels this week - though most of them probably have doubts about this course of action. Still, I'm proud of them for doing something I won't do: go to the poverty-stricken and invite them home. I have a spare room. I could do it. This isn't just "come and be happy, ye pitiful bastards" - it's "here's the key, breakfast's at 7:30, don't let the cat out."
This is my single favourite episode. Great way for me to start my birthday.
My week was okay, looking forward to a killer weekend starting with a free lunch at work (they just shifted from having Cake on people's B-days to having a full lunch once a month, and this one lands on my actual b-day...though no one at wors knows this.. is it odd I feel more comfortable telling WhiteChapel about this then I do co-workers....? B-days are weird for me, I like to celebrate, but at the same time keep it private)
Anyway, thanks again to Mr. Ellis and Mr. Duffield (and everyone at Avatar)
As an engineer (day-job), I have to feel for Caz, though. She's been saying that they're near the limit of their capacity as it is for a while now, and Miki (and the others) blithely disregard her words and assume she'll be able to make it work. It's a familiar feeling and, from experience, at times the assumption comes back to bite you.
I wonder if the clan's generosity will get them into trouble...
Alright strip; nice to see someone acting with a bit of compassion. Don't see why they all have to say 'fucking' every other word. Just comes across as immature. Bit like teenagers. I'm 21 and me and all my mates manage to refrain from inserting fuck, fucking and fucker into each sentence.
Then again, given the stressful nature of the senario, I guess it's kind of understandable. Holy shit - fucking starvation and disease! Horrible!
Don't see why the FAs don't get Kady to 'imagine' them up fresh water and supplies. After all, she reckons she can 'do anything'... Suppose they think she's just a bit off her rocker.
Although I don't yet know the circumstances for society's fall in the story, I get the fear every once in a while that most of us, big brain and all, could not make society work outside the occasional huddling around a fire, whining and slowly dying. You, Mr. Ellis and Mr. Duffield, have nailed one of my worst fears today quite clearly in 2 pages.
my laptop went and died yesterday (disk read error) today i found i had actually backed it up - well five months ago it seems (but still, it means that i have the books i thought i had lost in a semi-edited state) lost at least two partially written novels of around 20,000 words each but still it could have been worse
I love what Miki is doing. I also love that this is going to put strain on their resources, because, to me, it seems as though they will have to venture outward again, search for more. Perhaps this will prompt them to show us more of the world around Whitechapel. I loved the scenes with Jack scavenging for stuff, navigating the flooded cities, so more exploration is good with me.
I had cholera once, in Belize as a child. It wasn't fun. There should be shit and puke everywhere. I mean everywhere!
I'm wondering if the other freak angels will bring up the argument of euthanasia for the good of the masses. Surely some of these people are better off dead.
