Ed Sludden: VERY cool process! And the piece turned out totally great. I can't tell you how many times I've seen pictures in my wood flooring, or whatever, and had wanted to draw them into something...
karlchristian: I like the Day of the Dead skull a lot, and the stark graphic quality to the piece is nice.
andrewdrilon: Nice art, but the concept really sells it. Not anything we haven't seen before, but fine-tuned in a way that really makes it work. What I liked the best was that his lab coat would invert to black while BT's all fucked up. And the crossbones jutting out of his body (psychicly?) is particularly cool. Also, the Willy Wonka colorful world aspect could be really interesting. I picture this version like The Maxx, where Black Terror really is out fighting crime, just not in the way that he imagines (like he's spending half a day trying to fight a parked car in the real world, but is imagining it as some mighty beast...).
Here's a quick submission outta my sketchbook. Sprinkled with a lil P-shop. I wish I had more time to devote to this one, but alas, this con week has eaten up much of my schedule. Lots of awesome REMAKES in this thread! YEAH!
I see the character entering the real world as a meme when the trendmakers in the fashion industry decide to buck their vapid ideals and instead push social responsibility and focusing on personal responsibility. The character's symbol of the Jolly Roger becomes a badge worn by people adopting these ideals, co-opting its original meaning like the GLBT community did with the rainbow.
Thanks for the kind words regarding my piece people. I'm just happy to be able to share my work with so many other talented people... even when some of those talented people make me feel very insecure :)
Presenting Black Terror and his mighty Skullcockdpiece! "The pharmacy is open!" No real concept there. Bonus Blue Velvet/Frank Booth-style action shots:
I'm sorry, did someone say 'blaxploitation' like that's a BAD thing? I am unrepentant :-) Not a super original idea, but she sure was fun to draw. I tried to get a little of the original BT's yellow trim in there too.
Awesome entries as always, everyone :-) I'm envious of all these super-dark images... I'm afraid I'm doomed to always drawing sweet pictures.
In the interest of following someone's good idea from a previous thread: this is Photoshop from scratch using a small wacom, and it's approx 2000 x 3000 px in size.
