    "Milliontown" by Frost*

It took me a while to warm up to (heh) this band, but I'm really digging them now. The end of the song "Black Light Machine" is really addictive.

Gruff Rhys - Candylion - Friday afternoon cheeriness.

Talking Heads - Speaking in Tongues - always surprises me how busy the tracks sound, but how little each individual instrument actually plays. Alarmingly clever arrangement, that.

@joe.distort: i know i got here a little late to be asking this, but what do you mean by "tennessee-ish"?

    as for me-
tub ring- optics and sonics (a b-side collection paired w/ a dvd; this is amazingly the first time i've listened to it)
smashing pumpkins- rotten apples (greatest hits)
ohgr- welt, sunnypsyop, and devils in my details (i have the overwhelming need to see him live, of course a month after the tour ended)

i really don't listen to any new stuff. this is kinda saddening.

tennessee-ish as in the sub-sub genre of mildly crusty southern hardcore with a slight mid 80s japanese influence, a specific sounding faction that began mostly with HIS HERO IS GONE, DEATHREAT and the other bands that were from tennessee in the early 90s. then most of those guys grew beards and moved to portland, haha. there was some really good hardcore coming out of that area for a while!

also, in a move that is very uncharacteristic for me, i have found myself not wanting to listne to music while i suffer through this cold i have. my head is just all clogged up and hurt-y, and music doesnt help.

Been listening to De La Soul's '3 feet high and rising' today whilst houseworking, and the three year old loved it.

So it'll be more of that.

I just got Zomby's "Where Were U in '92" which, speaking as someone who was really into British rave in the 90s, is fucking awesome.

This weekend has been all about Raccoo-oo-oon - Raccoo-oo-oon. Sounds in parts like the clangers jamming with the Electric Mayhem Band, in a punk club in the 70's. Awesome.

The only thing getting any time with my ears this week has been Big Business. Have you ever wondered what two machine guns sound like fucking? Coady Willis' drums will solve this for you.

That and The Company Band. Neil Fallon has had the most interesting arc as a vocalist of anyone alive, Nick Cave excluded.
The man has gone from whatever he was in Clutch's early days to being this phenomenal manic street prophet I can imagine portending doom to all who pass.

Besides that the normal blend of random shit, a bit of Ministry, a bit of Flin Flon, a bit of Electric Frankenstein.
