    I did a new video -

    - It's the last one for this album. I think I'm just going to do "still photo" videos for the next album mixed in with video essays.

I'm planning to use the tmblr blog as a main website - check me here

I'd like to eventually do an internet based opera kind of thing there. We'll see.

I already posted this but my friend set it to some time lapse footage he took:

Some old/new beats I've recently put up. I'm waiting on my MC to lay down some vocals for an EP, but here's a taste of what I do.

Oh yeah, and in this world I was dubbed "Mild Maynyrd" (not by myself).
  2.  (4916.164)
A couple new 1-min pieces over on

"Space Rock #1" - this started out with completely different intentions (which I will eventually wrestle into reality), but evolved into some sorta homage to 70's space rock.

"Urgh Sonata" - A idea (thank you Kurt Schwitters) I've been playing with since I recorded part of "Leisure with Dignity" in '81. In this case, begun as a contribution to Kemper Norton's "To Iron John" EP, and developed a little more here. Short and sketchy.

A quick update on the latest Black Lantern Music releases:

Harlequinade - Nihilymous Germscapes - Lovecraftian cut-and-paste hip-hop from Sileni / ChemPo vocalist
Vigilante - Bullitt Vs. Busta - Lighthearted mashup of Lalo Schiffrin and Busta Rhymes by seminal Edinburgh hip-hop producer

My solo EP will follow in a day or two. Hope you are all enjoying the BLM stuff, I'm certainly enjoying putting it out. We're accepting demos now too - email if you want to get involved. Particularly interested in hip-hop, post / psychedelic rock and electronica.

    Metal metal metal metal metal.
The Freakangels crowd was really good to us last time around (wow, that's not a very brutal thing to say) with our "Abigail" EP, so I wanted to alert you all to Flaming Tusk's brand new full length album entitled "Old, Blackened Century".
It's available as a pay-what-you-will download from, and we're all really proud of not only the music and the way the record sounds but of our ability to entirely self-finance and self-distribute our music.

nice video, but not so great for the epilepsy candidates

    on that technicality

My band The Secretions has 5 CDs out, but we don't talk about the first one, luckily for me it's out of print now, as are the second and third, but hopefully that will change next year as we are releasing the second and third on a two-for-the-price-of-one-cd kind of deal. The latest one is shown above, I'm fairly proud of it, give it a listen. Due to some freakishly lucky digital distro deal we are available for digital preview and purchase pretty much anywhere (myspace/itunes etc), but if you want a hard copy go to Interpunk also has all of our vinyl releases if like prefer your music more in the analogue style.

We are currently trying to plan a summer US tour but nothing is solid yet. We are too broke to go to Europe probably ever, maybe someday it will happen.

Also look up Secretions on youtube, there are some pretty funny videos of us. I'm the freakishly tall blond billy-idol-lookin one with gorilla arms that yells a lot.

Hi folks, I just released my debut solo EP over on Black Lantern Music.

    Download Aphasia by Texture

Would love to hear what you all make of it. The EP features a re-mastered version of Vilnius Colony, which was on The4am:7. It's pretty much chilling music - laidback, electronica-flavoured hip-hop.

Thanks for sharing all of your interesting music! This place is a haven for strange and wonderful sounds.
I'm still working on various things with The Jaffe in Eastern Tennessee, as time allows us.

Erm, even though I don't show up here often, I thought I'd shamelessly plug myself.

Hi there! Josh "No Relation" Ellis here. I have a band (in much the way Trent Reznor has a "band") called Red State Soundsystem. We recently released our first album, Ghosts In A Burning City. Early reviews have compared it quite often to Peter Gabriel, Thom Yorke's solo work, and one of my favorite comparisons: "A cross between Paul Simon and Nine Inch Nails". It's sort of electronic rock, with the occasional dip into, dub, and glitchy trip-hop. All very lyrical (except the two instrumental tracks.) I'm very proud of it.

    GIABC cover

You can stream the whole album here and buy it for $10 in Yankee money here. (You can also buy it on iTunes and Amazon MP3, but if you buy it directly from our site, we keep all the money.)

I'm also looking for people who'd be interested in doing remixes -- I've got most of the tracks as stems, if anybody's interested.

    End shameless plug.

Back in the mists of time - and I mean, positively the Stone Age, I was in a band whilst at Art School in the early 90's. We were trying to decide on a name when we saw on a billboard "The boys from the detachment are back". This appealed to us, our sense of alienation from the University life, and mainstream music as a whole.

Fucked about, got drunk a lot, played a couple of gigs, put out a couple of EPs on cassette, even had a groupie (!) and after Uni it slowly fell apart. The Other Half was back up in Hull, I was back in London which made things difficult to co-ordinate. Of course, thanks to The Internet and such things as Technology, it'd be a piece of piss nowadays to simply ship files back and forwards. (Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but I'm coming to this from a non-professional stance) Even buying a $1 mic on Ebay from Singapore and sampling stuff onto a Mac Mini, and sequencing this and virtual synths, effects pedals...

In Hull, in 1992, this was the wildest, hairiest dream imaginable. We were improvising ugly sonic collages and soundscapes with overdubs on a 4-track, an Amiga and a handful of cheap analogue pedals and guitars. REALLY cheap and nasty stuff.

And that's just the production logistics.

Anyway, I spent some time at the arse-end of last year playing around with LogicPro and seeing what came out. I feel like it's better than the worst stuff I've ever heard, and certainly better than the stuff I put out in 1993 so I'm rather pleased at that. I'm in the process of sending the work files to my Other Half to see what his twisted and now paternal mind can come up with.

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Boys From The Detachment Are BACK!

Where you can download the rough versions as a Zip file.

(I'll get 'round to knocking out a cover image for this soon, I think, and once MikeD finishes his tinkering, maybe shopping it around some micro labels. Suggestions welcome.)
