    What're you listening to?

New week's releases are up at http://www.piccadillyrecords.com on Monday morning - just choose a genre from left and click "magic mix" to stream excerpts from the new releases.

I usually swing by Largehearted Boy's Try it before you buy it posts on Tuesday mornings, too.

    Commence playlist speakage.

I'm about halfway through the new Propaghandi too. It's pretty great so far. Every time I listen to them, I'm reminded of how glad I am that they exist.

Also got the new William Elliot Whitmore. Super good.

seriously, they are amazing. and they have just gotten better with each album! i cant say that for a lot of bands that have been playing constantly for 15-17 years.

Okay, the song "Dear Coach's Corner" off the new Propaghandi is fucking facemelting. And catchy as fuck. I am still working my way through the whole album but that song stands out as just unbelievably awesome.

I am still listening to CHANG's Make Way for the Catastrophe. This dude blows my mind with every record he makes.

Also I just found out that Beirut put out a couple EPs, March of the Zapotec and Holland. Zapotec was done with this Mexican funeral orchestra, and it is fucking great. Jury's still out on Holland, Zach Condon was going to release it under a different name because it's so different from the Beirut stuff but, as I am a sucker for electropop I will probably come around to it.

And, since I watched the first two Godfathers on Valentines day I have been listening to Nino Rota's soundtrack. Great stuff.

Since I try to listen to everything Carey Mercer does:

Blackout Beach - Skin of Evil

Try reading Carey's blog (http://cloudofevil.blogspot.com), it's demented and frequently entertaining:
Dan [Bejar] dubbed the project Swan Lake, further cementing his position in the skate-punk Mecca that is EAST VAN/STRATHCONA as a lunatic, a pompous member of the bourgeoisie, a man too obsessed with the immutable worth of his own cantos to even crack a WILDCAT© or a DUDE©.

Also, I took his recommendation on the Victoria, BC band Daddy's Hands. Good stuff.

Trying to write stuff at the moment , so I'm mainly listening to the same godawful flute riff going round and round and round.

David MacAllum ( as Ilya Kuryakin ) was playing it to me in my dreams last night. Which was disconcerting.

Otherwise , am enjoying nushoegazers Flavor Crystals and Can's Tago Mago.

@Kernowdrunk, Is it still a riff when it's on a flute? If so, awesome.
@joe.distort, That (the Sega LP), Sir, is much too awesome.

I have said awesome too much in this. I think my brain needs sleep.

Son House - The Original Delta Blues.
    Tunng - Good Arrows.
Future of the Left - Curses (I defy any of you to listen to "Manchasm" or "My Gymnastic Past" and not dance like a complete tit, regardless of social setting).
