I've been shooting for over 10 years. Had a collection of my earlier black & white nudes published by a subsidiary of Goliath Books back in 2005 called PRIVATE SKIN.
Been working towards refining my style lately. A few samples including a couple very new pieces.
More of my work can be found at drwphotography.com which seriously needs to be updated or more recent stuff at Model Mayhem.
I'm an amateur / newbie... just started recently as a hobby, and I find it incredibly relaxing. There are some great pictures here. Here are my humble contributions...
Very very amateur photographer who tends to wander about clutching a cameraphone or wee point and click. Photoshop is improving due to this though. My Flickr
Is there anything below amateur? I would have said I'm little more than a tourist/dilettante, but I'm starting to feel like I've walked out of the house without my pants on if I forget my camera. For several months recently my camera was broken and it felt just awful without it, eventhough it's a cheap little Canon. Forever I'm going to be sad that I have no photos of New York in the snow because of this.
Anyway, I use Fotki for posting photos the most/longest. It's a bit random, some pics being serious about being a good photo (see especially the Misc. album), some far more casual (e.g. "people"). I'll be updating going forward with more stuff from New York from the summer and fall.
I have been making photographs since I was a kid, and have even had a fair amount of professional instruction and sold a few of my pictures. But I am convinced that amateurs still have all the fun, so I am definitely an amateur.
Here is an image that I made recently that I am pretty happy with:
And here is a link to a few photos that I rotate through a flickr photostream.
Compulsive photo documentarian/amateur shutterbugger, me! Lots of candid portraits and images of offbeat locales (not to mention a lot of preening, moony self-portraits :P).
I've been having a blast over on Flickr since just about the beginning. Come say hi!
Dedicated amateur. I was inspired by the Self Portrait thread last Summer to pick the up the camera, and haven't really put it down since. I like shooting both Digital and Film, and love Holga and antique cameras. Oh, and I'm 29 days into a 365 project.
Pro photographer, (with a separate dayjob), specializing in fine art nudes, with the occasional clothed model and landscape/travel themes for variety. I shoot digital only, as the cost of film was killing me. Haven't missed it. I've shown nationally and once internationally, which was a total trip. Traveling with pictures of naked women in my luggage is one of the highlights of my life.
I love that there are so many damn talented photographers here.
You can see my work here: http://angelahunt.30art.com (I don't know why this link isn't working...)
My name is Chris Blakeley, I'm a pro/am photographer here in Seattle, WA. I shoot mainly with a Canon 50D but love taking my AE-1 Program out for walks. I've worked extensively in the local burlesque/cabaret scene and I'm trying to parlay that into other areas this year. Some faves:
I always like trying to make the Space Needle more interesting:
I've been shooting seriously since 03, went pro in 05. The first couple of years of the gig were a bit of a grind: going on as many shoots as possible, shooting as many setups per day as possible, then doing post-processing as quickly as possible to author the final product and get it into the clients hands.
Since then I've moved on to coordinating whole projects and am less hands-on in terms of creating individual images. One of the best aspects of that development is that satisfying my photo bug now forces me to pursue my personal work. These days I'm most enthusiastic for landscape, though I dig macro and non-representational stuff as well.
With my work-for-hire being seen and evaluated by a whole bunch of people I haven't been in a hurry to publish my personal work, and instead have focused on woodshedding. In the near-term future I should be establishing more of a Web presence and making some prints, probably offering some for sale but the economics of that whole endeavor are an unknown to me.
Here are a few shots from a nice August day in Maine, 2006:
Amateur shutterbug here: Canal City Fukuoka - which borders their redlight district ... Wife & daughter at Junkadoo's Starbucks relaxing. Love the colors the camera caught ... Eyes are better than cameras ... but it is easier to share these if you lack the gift of description.
I'm an amateur photographer, I've been taking pictures for...20 years or so. I use some of my better shots for gifts, had a couple recently accepted by schmap for their Detroit and Chicago guides (very flattered). I'm more interested in filling my frame and fun angles than I am in the true technical aspects of photography.
For my more "serious" shots, I stay with film (currently Canon Elan7ne, used many over the years), but for the less serious, spontaneous shots I use my little kodak digital camera (V1003 10MP). Here's my very incomplete flickr page (I have dial-up so I don't upload or share much). My Dad and sister are far superior photogs to me (they don't have flickr pages, sadly), I'm really enjoying this thread, some great stuff to see from everybody!
I started shooting again a few years ago, mainly because I was getting a little bored with painting and wanted another outlet. There's a lot more "instant fun" to be had, especially when you're working with models! I also wanted to do a better job of documenting my rally racing in Mexico.
Well, I think I like the work I do as half of The Sticky Friends more than on my own. The website is under construction, but I've been trying to load up it's own Flickr account with everything for the time being:
