However, people who communicate with each other can't help but influence each other to some degree. I remember that one of my very first posts on the old WEF asked whether there'd eventually be a Thunderbolts/Planetary crossover. My reply from Warren was a terse "No chance in Hell." And, indeed, there was no Thunderbolts/Planetary crossover. That said, Warren did end up doing a run on Thunderbolts a few years later.

Do I believe that Warren recalled that comment and decided to give Thunderbolts a chance based upon it? I do not. Do I believe that the comment was one snowflake in an avalanche of other situations that led to him deciding write the comic? I do. That isn't ego, it's reality. We live in a quantum universe. Everything affects everything else to a great or lesser degree. So, yes, I do believe that our comments, questions, etc. have an influence on Warren. How big or small that influence may be is something only Warren may be able to tell us. I don't think I've seen anyone on here being genuinely self deprecating, simply appreciative of the talents of Mr. Ellis and Mr. Duffield. The people posting in these threads are usually here because they enjoy reading FreakAngels, so yes, the responses are generally possitive, though not always one hundred percent. It's true that some people on here refer to Warren as "internet Jesus" or similar titles, but it is in good humor and a reflection of how comfortable people are in talking to Warren on here. No one is saying the man is infallible; people on Whitechapel frequently point out things they didn't like in issues of FreakAngels, sparking interesting conversations in most cases.

Many readers here have similar projects they work on and are often quite talented, both in writing and art. That's one of the first things I noticed about Whitechapel, and one of the things I love. Appreciating the work of Paul and Warren does not prevent people from pursuing those endeavors, quite the contrary, it encourages them.

Though I can't say I see any resemblance to a work of Jane Austen, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I particularly like that there are quiet moments, like this issue, as well as dramatic action packed scenes. Posting on the internet once a week allows Warren to add the depth of a "standard" novel to FreakAngels, specifically because of the pacing. I would love to know about an Austen book that involved the end of the world, post-apocalyptic moral dilemmas, and the blatant brutality of people trying to survive in a desperate world. Perhaps we'll see more of that in the upcoming Pride & Predjudice & Zombies...

While I love Neil Gaiman's work, and own several of his books, I do not own any copies of Sandman. I read Sandman quite some time ago, and still intend to buy copies of the series, but I purchased volume one of FreakAngels as soon as I could. Even though FreakAngels is available, for free, on the internet, I felt the need to buy it anyway. Not only did I want a copy to show to friends who do not utilize the internet, but I also wanted to support what these people are making. FreakAngels is becoming a genuine graphic novel, that's why I love it.

If you want to compare Authors instead of simply their works, I think you've chosen two very talented Authors to compare. Both of them stand above most on their own merits. I am a fan of Gaiman's work, but I have to commend Ellis for doing something not found in graphic novels.
