finally grabbed a few new records this weekend:

SFN-demo 7"- punishing old school powerviolence from wisconsin...these dudes evidently dont have much to do besides rip bongs, play reallyreallyreally fast theeeeeennnn plllllaaaaayyyy sllllooooooow. awesome, cant wait to see them on wednesday.

HATRED SURGE-isolated human 7"- not as fast as their (his? alex hughes plays everything on the recordings...) other records, but still a crucial new release from the pinnacle of current "grind violence" bands.

DEEP SLEEP-you're screwed 7"- this band (and every band on the usually infallible GRAVE MISTAKE records) has been getting a ton of hype and ass-kissing in the HC scene...and im gonna have to say this record lives up to none of it. decent mid tempo early 80s style, but nothing stands out. why do people flip a shit over this band? oh well.

    besides these, ive been jamming
    GENGHIS TRON-dead mountain mouth lp
    MIKA MIKO-666 one sided lp
and the last two J CHURCH records non stop. i still cant believe that there will never be another J CHURCH record.....

    UpCDownCLeftRightABCandStart - Embers.
Themselves - FREEPitchblend. - Awesome mix of tracks from their upcoming FREEHoudini EP, it's a free download from somewhere, it's a cool 15 min sprawl of hip-hop.
  7.  (5313.12)
    Grinderman - Grinderman
Fancy Pants and the Cellphones - The Drinking Years
    X-Ray Spex - Germfree Adolescents

This week I'm listening to the following stuff

Bat for lashes - Two Suns: Is more synth based than "Fur and Gold" but still some great tunes. Anyone that sings a tune about Daniel from the Karate Kid that sounds a bit like early Eurhymics can't be all bad!
VA - We don't need nuclear Force: This is a rare german compilation of Classic Punk i downloaded from a blog site. Contains music from bands such as Appliances SFB, Toxic Reason, AÜSBRUCH and others
The Nerds - A Black Star Burning Trails To Nowhere: Mental Rock music from Italy
Sonic Youth - Dirty - Forgot how great this album was
New Bomb Turks - !!Destroy-Oh-Boy!!: Noisy Rock that sounds like an updated ramones.
Sin Dios - Guerra a La Guerra: Anrachist Punk/Hardcore form Spain.
Lamb of God - Wrath: Sounds nice and Angry to start the week for me.

Oh and William Shatners greatest hits.....

Oh and William Shatners greatest hits.....

I don't know whether that's really lame or really awesome.
    Currently pulling for awesome.
Especially if it's the one with Leonard Nemoy as the other artist on it.

I just noticed Spotify has two CD's of negro spiritual field recordings from the 20's to the 40's. I think I know what this week's playlist will look like. Strong stuff, this.

Currently playing: Silent Grove Babtist Church Congregation with Bozie Sturdivant - Ain't No Grave Can Hold My Body Down

(Here's the link for the ones with Spotify.)
