Hey, colleagues. As some of you know, I host a dinner for comic-book people in the Los Angeles area. This is an invitation to join us.

The dinner, held on the last Thursday of the month, is for everyone who's worked with comics — writer, artist, retailer, publisher, teacher, librarian, distributor, everyone. There’s no formal agenda: we eat, drink, trade news and gossip, show off new work (if you're so inclined), and so on. It's a good place to network; people have built friendships and business deals after meeting at the dinners. If you've got a topic, announcement, or question for your peers, bring it. Someone's bound to be interested. (No fans or wannabes, though. This is strictly an event for peers and professionals.)

Our next dinner is on Thursday, January 31. We’ll discuss local comics publishers: Tokyopop, Bongo, Top Cow, Boom!, Platinum, and many others. We’ll meet at 7 P.M. in the Sherman Oaks Galleria's Cheesecake Factory. It's at the northwest corner of Ventura and Sepulveda Boulevards, near the intersection of the 405 and 101 freeways. (For those of you new in town, that's the San Diego Freeway and the Ventura Freeway.)

Please let me know if you're coming. If you show up without RSVPing, we won't turn you away, but I like to have an idea of how many people we'll get. I'm at davidseidman@earthlink.net or 310-652-4369.

Spread the word about the dinner to your colleagues. Better yet, bring ‘em with you!

    See you on the 31st,

    David Seidman

Coincidentally, I'd like to announce a fans & wannabes dinner at the table directly across from this event. It's basically just a chance for us to grip our silverware menacingly, drink to excess and longingly stare. Those who can read lips are encouraged to join!

    See ya there!

If fans/wannabes actually show up to that, I'll turn in my fingers in to the proper authorities.
