New week's releases are up at http://www.piccadillyrecords.com on Monday morning - just choose a genre from left and click "magic mix" to stream excerpts from the new releases.
Ariana usually swings by Largehearted Boy's Try it before you buy it posts on Tuesday mornings, too.
I picked up Boredoms - Super Roots 10 which is fun, if not really all that surprising. There's a Lindstrom remix on there that really shakes things up though, it's great.
I also heard a track by a piano popster called Odani Misako which I really liked so I picked up her last album Trio and I kinda like it. It's not earth shattering, but it's got some good-to-stupendous songwriting on there.
And J-Pop Hip-Hop, Kreva's Best Of and the new Teriyaki Boyz - Serious Japanese. Which are both flawed and dumb as a sack of hammers, but fun.
Yeah yeah yeahs - It's Blitz!: The new synth based direction is taking a little time to be absorbed by my ears, but so far the melodies are holding up. The generators - From Rust to Ruin: LA punk band. Quite like as the singer sounds like the Singer from the Chameleons. Which leads me to... The Chameleons - Return of the Roughnecks (Best Of...): Still can't get enough of "monkeyland" and "Swamp Thing" Dinosaur Jr - Where you been: Love the guitar shredding in "out There" and "Start Choppin" Electric frankenstein - The Buzz Of 1000 Volts: US Hard rock. Not too bad. VA - American Youth report: Compilation of Early 80's US punk from Bad Religion, M.I.A, Minutemen, etc
Still Listening to Bat for Lashes:Two suns from last week. The Opening song "glass" really seems to have gotten it's jagged hooks in me.....
Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine. Richard Hell & The Voidoids - Blank Generation. Kaki King - ...Until We Felt Red. Clutch - Transnational Speedway League: Anthems, Anecdotes & Undeniable Truths. Deftones - Around the Fur. The Mountain Goats - Satanic Messiah Ep.
