It's pretty obvious what I was going for, here, but I'll call this one a disappointment (failed experiment)... It's no Street Figher 3 or Guilty Gear, and I didn't change the designs at all, since I never redesigned either of these characters, to begin with, but enjoy, anyway. Here is what the original inks looked like. I did this incredibly quickly, since I was just going to pixelate it, anyway.
This one was a little bit more difficult. Thought about making Captain Justice an inquisitor with a large sword, then about a wrestling angle (Irma jumping with a folded chair at Captain), finally settled for this.
I missed the IRMA VEP = VAMPIRE anagram as well. DUH. Do I have to turn in my REMAKE card now? Can I bring the sexy VS. to this REMAKE? I guess we'll find out, or laugh trying...
I think that the movie hits you over the head with the anagram (The more recent Oliver Assayas version does, anyway, showing the old serials in the film as Maggie Cheung watches them for inspiration...), by showing the name "Irma Vep" and then jumbling the letters to rearrange into "vampire"... So if you haven't seen either version of the film, I suppose it could be easy to miss...
Game, set and MATCH! BTW, Edwin--just so you know, when Warren ends the R&R threads for good, I'm coming for you, because I didn't sacrifice goats and chickens and then ask Warren (nicely) to bring 'em back, just so you can make him regret it all!
