Remember this thread from way back in the glory days of muxtape? Well, now I want to start another one and thanks to discovering the existence of 8tracks, well I think we can do it.

So it's the end of the world and you are one of the few survivors wandering around. During the long tedious hours of looking for food, water, gasoline, weapons, ammunition, and fighting off the occasional mutant biker gang you need to listen to some music that fits the situation you are in and perhaps even make things seem less horrible. I dunno. You have a music player that runs on solar power. What the hell.

I've created an 8tracks account in the hopes that the wonderful people in Whitechapel might share some music that they would like to listen to when the world is destroyed. Share one song, maybe two or more. Whatever. When one mix is filled, move on to the next one and so on. Who knows? Maybe we'll have a nice little library of music dedicated to the post-apocalyptic future.

8tracks
name: postapocalyptic
password: whitechapel

just click on the latest mix and click on "edit tracks" on the mix page. And when you're done DON'T FORGET TO CLICK SAVE.

If you update on the account, leave a post here and let us know! let's keep this going as long as we can!

Mixes so far:

Postapocalypticadence
Just Walk Away
Our Settlement Needs Women
I Look At The Sky
Avoid The Cities...
The 'Dust' Is A Spore
What Once Was Ours
'cause All our Heroes are Bastards, 'cause All our Heroes are Thieves
Salvation is at hand...
They Come Out At Night To Feed
10,000 Years
They Come Out At Night To Feed
Long Live The New Flesh

Just a thought, since some of us know what it's like to be in to a particularly slow and dark mix of music only to have it interrupted by a quick paced rock synth-pop band. Just throwing that out there.

The music is still sounding amazing folks!

Some of these have been shifting around since being published -- I'm pruning a bit. Adding on to the ends is fine, but revising where people have already set an order and listed it here undoes the group-think happenstance that put these together. If the first eight songs move, they'll be moved back to how they were posted here. The mixes should live and breathe, but editorializing should be kept to a bare minimum. None of us is meant to like every song or song order.

Whoever put up the Beethoven : your mp3 file was skippy as heck. I removed it from mix 4. New mix started ! this time the first track is "The Snow" by Larsen ... quite a haunting track... also, the only idea i have for the name of the mix is "as above, so below" ... but that is not really apocalyptic.

@icelandbob "The Fire is waiting" is really good! hmmm... it make me think of a city "mad max" style , with bodies hanged in the buildings, fires and destruction...
@BrianMowrey im hearing again "Our settlement needs women" (my favorite mix of right now) ... Killbot 2000 "Murder by death" is quite good ! the rest of the song of this groups is as good as this one ?

Mix 9: Salvation is at Hand...

The first seven tracks have moved around a bit? They previewed very nicely so I assumed it was the work of someone with the best interests of the mix firmly in heart. Final listing:

01. Reverend Jim Jones - Mass Suicide
02. My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult - Kooler Than Jesus
03. Explosions in the Sky - Catastrophe and the Cure
04. Acid Bath - Bones of Baby Dolls
05. Pixies - Wave of Mutilation
06. Alejandro Jadorsky - Rainbow Room
07. Paul Giovanni - Summer Is Coming in
(added:)
08. XTC - Green Man
09. Talking Heads - Road to Nowhere
10. Pavement - Fin

Put up a Modest Mouse but didn't use it. Thought Byrne/Eno's "Help Me Somebody" would have been a nice counterpoint to the opening two tracks, but overdoing it a bit. Stayed with the classic "Road to Nowhere". This mix sounds like one of the best two or three yet.

 @Brianmowrey

i see (I hope) where you are going with this new mix. A lot of ye olde bad times and good old fashioned biblical end of days. You know it makes sense...
4: Earth died Screaming - Tom Waits. you know i´m pretty much amazed that it´s taken until NOW for someone to bring this track up. I think now is the time to do such a thing....

I hope that you guys are following our lead. Added the new mix to the lot.

Also, since there are a few people coming who aren't reading the start of the thread...here's the first post all over again.
