The Blood Falls in Antarctica were discovered way back in 1911 as a plume of water, spewing out of a glacier that's high in iron and oxidises when it contacts air, making it look like blood.

But that's not the impressive thing. The impressive thing is that there's microbes that live in it that don't require oxygen.
