Still no IC2 at GOSH! I had to buy Anna Mercury Vol 1 and Transmet Vol 1 to make up for it.

    I am loving this series.

God, we are a few days away from the moon by rocket and we still haven't gone back.

"One of these days I'm going to wake up dead and be so fucking happy about it." That might be one of my new favorite lines.

Did anyone who wasn't able to get it last week cos their LCS didn't have it actually get it this week? Cos there was still no sight of it in mine... :/
  3.  (5655.5)
People still having trouble getting this?

I just got issue #2 on the re-order from my LCS this past week. Because he had to submit orders for #2 before #1 had shipped, he didn't anticipate the additional demand when all the subscription boxers got their grubby mitts on #1 and suddenly decided to add IC to their pick-up lists, which meant his entire first shipment of #2 except for one loose copy went into the fanboy crates. So, I had to wait an extra week.

And I agree completely re: Yuri. It just appalls me to no end to hear how this history is completely ignored by our American Public Education System. Most of the people I know under the age of 40 have never even seen more than a few seconds of footage from the Apollo 11 landing - biggest televised event in human fucking history, and they don't even show the tiniest bit of it in school.

Tried to pick this up at the weekend in Southend but to no avail. The shop seemed surprised that it was out at all and thought that Avatar were late shipping. I get my books put aside for me, so not worried i'll miss out, it's just frustrating when others are chatting about it on the threads 'SPOILERS WITHIN'

All good things......and all that shit.

I'm sure God has nothing to do with it?

@COMTE - it's because we spend so much time memorizing dates of battles of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars that we tend to ignore anything that has happened in the last 60 years. If you want to take an class/course on US or World History since WWII you pretty much have to wait until University. At least that was the case when I was in high school.

We'd spend 90% of the class on 1700s-1900 history, a little at the beginning about early settlers, a bit about the WWI and WWII (Seriously, the only thing that happened between 1919 and Dec 1942 was the great depression according to my high school history class) and then we'd rush through the last 60 years in about a week, and I was in the advanced history in high school

I think it's because most of the curriculum was designed and taught by much older people so the last 50-60 years was not history to them, and dammit they were not going to be made to feel old!!!

@warrenellis - my LCS were just surprised that I was asking for #2 so soon after #1. for some reason it hasn't been on their list yet. it's not on Forbidden Planet's list for this week or next week and when you go to the Ignition City #2 page on their website it just says "due May 2009", no specific date. i also checked another not-so-lcs and they had none either.

i noticed this happened with the anna mercury trade too, though it was just one week late.

    Good News!

Ignition City #2 has made it across the pond to my LCS in Camden.

Hopefully this means that the rest of you in the UK waiting on this should see it as well.

BTW it wasn't listed on this weeks Shipping List on the stores website, so I think it may have suprised them

On the wall in the boarding house were some interesting pictures! For one thing, there was a photo of what seemed to be an astronaut standing next to a Mercury capsule with "United States" on it; in the IC timeline, did the government try to "catch up" with capsules after Lighting Bowman's flight in a rocket ship? Also, I liked the cameo appearance of Fireball Junior from "Fireball XL5" in the next panel!

IC 2 was in Traveling Man: Newcastle (and, I believe, Manchester) on Friday.

A fun read and a very pretty book, I really like the 'rust tones' palette.

Picked up both last week. Finally sat down and read 'em. Good shit. Very eager to see where this is going. Re: different covers, how can the powers that be tell if we prefer one over the others or if we're just buying whichever one we find? My #1 and #2 don't match in terms of covers because they only had the one #1 and I just didn't care to be so picky to keep looking for the sepia-thing cover. Whatever... anyway. good shit.

I think the real boost they get from variant covers is from the people who have to find all 3. And there are a bunch of people out there who do that.

By the way, agreeing with everyone who thinks this series is great. In fact, it's kind of amazing just how many different series that Warren has coming out right now that are all amazing. The fact that he works that fast and the quality doesn't suffer in the least is mindblowing.

I hate being a month behind...

Anyway, loved this issue. I agree, Mary's entirely too fine for being a comic book character. And with a gun on her hip, even. Hmph.

I'm really liking the slang, and the scene with the Martians is wonderfully sci-fi and comedic at the same time. Loved it.

Also, my thanks to Ariana, whom I've been told letters this book. Most people look at it as a means to an end, but the lettering here was just beautiful. I say again, is there anything she can't do?

Finally got it, probably just in time for #3, which suits me fine.

@LBA - ask someone under 25 the significance of VJ Day. Don't bother asking them the date. Ask someone under 30 the date of the moon landing. Five bucks says they don't know. And double or nothing they'll tell you "it never happened."

"And people wonder why I drink before a decent hour of the day." (Which, I know, technically is in issue 1 but I've had occasion to use it quite a bit, these last few weeks.)

Finally got it today. I noticed the FreakAngels Vol 2 TPB in GOSH! but no copies of IC2 or Rawbone, I assumed I'd missed it, so I went down to Forbidden Planet and found them there.

I think I've been spoilt by Paul's FreakAngel panoramas. I was hoping to see a nice splash of Ignition City. The story's moving on and the plot thickens! Is it just me or does Mary's arse get a lot of coverage? And should I recognise those martians from somewhere? They are naggingly familiar.

I just noticed the No Hero #3 auxiliary cover in the stuff at the back - ha ha!

yay! finally ventured into FP and found a copy (actually lots of copies), they must hog all of the UK's supply.

the story is fantastic, i was rather irritated that i got to the end and i din't have number 3.

the characters have got some really charm (or anti-charm since they are kind of bastards, one an all).

anyway, if anyone in the UK is rather desperate for a copy, i do not mind wandering down to FP an picking up some and posting them.
