I don't think that a similar thread exists, so wanted to post about dressing up or cosplaying as a Freakangel character. As you've all seen by now, Warren and Paul will both be attending London Expo in May 2009.

I've decided to go as KK provided that the costume works out!

Will anyone else be dressing up as a Freakangel character? Perhaps we could meet and do a photoshoot!

If the admins think that this idea sux then please feel free to delete the thread. I am also going to post a blog of how the costume-making is going so will link to that at some point.

Otherwise, perhaps other Whitechapelers can meet up at the Expo?

I'm attending Comin Con in San Diego this year, and seeing as my hair will be purple i'm thinking about dressing up as Sirrka.

Some kids are thinkin' about doing some "steampunk" gatherings. Could be interesting what kind of effort they'll put into cosplaying.

Its only for a day, so I won't feel too much like a nerd. :P

There are already Steampunk gatherings here in London so if you're interested, just google those as keywords and you can see what they wear. Looks cool, especially a couple called Darren (demondaz) and Audrey.

So far I have finished making the pipe attachments for the corset, half-made the skirt and am working on the jacket - the sleeves are finished off but I need to shorten the jacket, tailor it so it's not so huge, and paint the logo on. I haven't made the bra yet or worked on the boots - shall do those 2 last.

Hehehe, well, I won't look too much like her if I do. My hair's not long enough, I am missing a pipe to stick to my corset, and I am chubby. I don't look like I've suffered an apocalyptic wipe-out very much at all ;)
But we'll see. I will be going there mainly to see my friend Ross Campbell at the OniPress booth.

Turns out I won't be able to do it. I've lost some vital parts (my FA stencil broke and there's no time to make a new one, and I used to have tubes from an old vacuum cleaner, but it turned out my mom wanted that back). I shall definitely cosplay as her at a bigger and better con, though.

I will be dressed in brown and white, possibly with a white parasol if it's not too much of a hassle to carry. I'll have a grey Cowboy Bebop messenger bag around my shoulder.

And I will have a FreakAngels temporary tattoo on my left arm.

Im gonna propably be going to the London Expo as Jack.
I've got most things on my checklist apart from the purple lenses and a string vest/tank top.
Also the tattoo needs figuring out...

I even have a panatella cigar lined up to use as a prop.

I bought my purple lenses from www.contactlenses.co.uk and bought the ones that were 6 pounds each. They're not very purple but they are prescription which is important for me. If you just need coloured ones, try Four Lenses.. they sell them for 15 pounds.

Interesting. I may well get a pair of those ones...

The only thing is i’m a bit wary on buying stuff, especially things you put ON your eyes, over the internet. Horror stories and all.

I’ve spotted a few over on mainstream lens sellers (spec savers, etc) but they require a course of 6 months (pair per month). Ill have a shop around either way. Thanks!

I just hope that I don't offend Paul, or indeed Warren, with my attempts at being KK. It did cross my mind that I could be KK from the first few scenes as all I'd need would be a bed sheet... but what with kids about decided against it.

Well, getting the contacts has gone tits up, so im going with option two. Im gonna be painting larger 'anime-esque' eyes over my eyelids and upper cheeks. So. Snazaroo face paint, here we come. I will hopefully be hangin around with a bunch of people, one of which will be dressed as a naruto char and another as CC from code geass.

@UrbanAngel if i see you ill give you a wave and perhapes get a picture, but the Excel is a BIG place. So its a needle in a pile of needles. A perticular needle.

I also will be visiting Whitechapel, AND maybe even get a pint in the 10 Bells. On a very geeky note, the 10 Bells is an actual location in London, Whitechapel and featured in FREAKANGELS. Ill let you guys figure out who uses it.

I've decided to go half KK half 'I don't have time to do this I have an exam tomorrow'
To be honest I just wanted a FreakAngels logo on the back of a jackety type thing which I accomplished with the use of a laser cutter to make a stencil. I am quite lazy, yes.
Does it matter that I've only picked out partial elements for the outfit? I've been trying to cut down on how much I spend on costumes and limited myself to whatever I can pick up for free.

I dyed my hair darker the other night, left it in too long and now it's purple. Not complaining, was planning on going a bit blue this summer actually.

We' stencilled the labcoat. It's got a collection of odd stains and is slightly yellowed. I'm assuming that Miki wouldn't have one fresh and sterilised, and that she'd probably boil the hell out if it, though that'd not really get rid of iodine stains etc.. But, a doctor wears a white coat, so if she's wearing a white coat, then she's a doctor.
There are actually purple contact lenses there, but they don't seen to show up that much
The top is one of Primark's finest, with a print transfer lifted from the wallpaper and photoshopped to f*ck to give it a stippled effect.
There were also paper bags full of nice chalky pills (mint imperials), but.. well, they went :P

-Bleach and two hours can clean almost any labcoat.
That being said I don't know if she would have access to bleach to use that often. So perhaps, saving it for big things, like before/after surgeries and whatnot.
