    I'm sorry that this woffles on a bit but I thought a bit of context might help.

    I met a crazy guy on the train. 50 or so, whisps of grey in his trimmed afro, a big face, all smiles, he wore all balck, a long leather trench coat, like he could also have a cowboy hat, only he didnt.

    I was reading a book on astronomy, when the person next to me got off the train they left behind on the seat a small purple diamonte. he got up and sat next to me. he had a really thick warm jamaican accent,

    "dis diamond belong to you"

    and I said

    "well, to you now'

    he points at the book and starts asking about solar eclipses, at first I thought he was full of it....just some crazy man, but turns out he knows his stuff, starts asking why I care about planets and galaxies, then asks me about super conductors, I know a bit about them, but couldnt bring it to memory, I knew from a documentory on bbc 4 they were building a massive one somewhere in europe to recreate and study the big bang, I told him it was in france, he raised his eyebrows and said he thought it was in switzerland and princeton, he was right. I didnt let on, though at this point it was clear I was the one bullshitting,

    'Whats it for" he asks, talking about the super conducter, its that annoying 'Im testing you but phrasing it like I dont know to trip you up" tone of voice

    "creating the end of the world some people say" I said, half remembering an article I read this week....

    "oh ho ho, puncing holes in the ozone layer and all that" he says, "I was asking you about the eclipse because, now have you heard of ......

    (i forget the scientists name, this is what I really want to find out,)

    ......he is a scientist, he says that on a solar eclipse (now he whispers) you can use the power of a super conductor to time travel, he has the formula and everything"

    I had to get off, it was my stop, as the door closed he lifted the purple diamonte and winked at me through the glass.. what was strangest is the way he spoke about it, like he was telling his kids a story or somthing....

    Im just curious as he appeared to really know his stuff and no amount of internet bashing has turned anything up. if anyone knows anything about a mathmetician who talks about time travel during a solar eclipse then please let me know....

    Clearly, he was the scientist, and you can't find information on him because he is going to be born in about 4 years.

    You know, i bet when time travel becomes available, we'll discover that the past is fairly PACKED with tourists and voyeurs. You won't even be able to get NEAR the crucifixion for all time traveller creeps.

    You know, i bet when time travel becomes available, we'll discover that the past is fairly PACKED with tourists and voyeurs. You won't even be able to get NEAR the crucifixion for all time traveller creeps.

    Interesting encounter. There is of course only one way to test this. August 1st 2008. China. Too bad they don't have a superconductor there.
