Mr. Ellis, when are you returning to my side of the pond?
  2.  (571.122)
I hate your fucking open mic nights. There's never any SOUND.

What's the best non-"Big Four" comicbook out there that's so DIFFERENT (from most of the "popular" stuff on the shelves) that we should go check out based solely on your reccomendation?

I'm the wrong person to ask, I barely read comics these days...

    @Sasha/everyone
Broken Sea are doing an audio book reading of the original Metropolis novel that might interest you

There's also a couple of Conan books on there too. Was going to start a thread when Metropolis was done, but screw it.

Big four these days is Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and...Image?

Well in any event, as per usual "Scott Pilgrim" gets my vote for being something pretty much anyone can enjoy, unless they have an issue with "fun." Don't laugh, I've been to Comics Can Be Good, it happens.

Otherwise, and this isn't sucking up, "Doktor Sleepless" has turned into something really intriguing. With every issue the broader question of just what the hell is going on becomes more interesting and involved. Almost like Transmet-by-way-of-"Twin Peaks." The first issue had me a little worried, but after issue four, it's started to show up on the top of my reads that week.

Based on the spirit of the Open-Mic idea, I usually hate doing the direct question thing, but:

How have the sales been on it, Mr. Ellis? Good as hoped, or at least, Good Enough?

Follow-up: Can you share any more about the process of writing this one? It's been interesting seeing your Bad Signal vignettes showing up as sub-chapters to the overall story. It feels sort of free-form, as opposed to some of your more rigidly-structured stories (here I'm thinking of the bevy of three-parters that showed up a few years back).

Crap, one more question: Is "Two-Step" ever going to be collected, or should I just start rummaging through back-issue bins?

Twin Peaks is good demented fun.

I'm getting ready to cook Lime and Cilantro Chicken.

Do not go out, it's cold as fuck. Stay in and cuddle up with someone special. That someone being your favorite liquor. Warms the soul.

I want to know if I could make a Transmet fanfilm, I need the fix, a few fellow Transmet fans and myself are starting to work on a script. made for enjoyment purposes only, maybe animated, maybe a combo of all media forms combined. I dunno, thoughts? Crooked Little Vein would make an awesome movie, but I don't know where I could find people that would willingly DO that stuff. If a Transmet film gets made, I'll finish getting the tattoos and I'll buy my own cigs. ah this sounds like shit. I shouldn't post things on boards that I know little about. BLOOT!!!

Hey Gary, you might get a kick out of this.

Other people probably would as well.

    Lime and Cilantro sounds good.

@Macgyver: well, it's been borderline this way for about a month. It's been in steady decline. Usually I'll notice someone interesting and not care by the end of the week (on the long end of things). It's more of a giving up on love thing. I'm starting to doubt I'll ever find someone. Which is incredibly frustrating.

Warren, are you powered by a Red-Bull fission reactor? do you have clones that are hopped up on Anti-Sleep? I think you're breaking the laws of physics with your energy output. Just don't explode. Keep up the awesomeness, I'm prepared to squeal like a little girl if you reply to this.

I work in a large Hotel in Alaska. I keep making "Great Northern" and Twin Peaks references that no one understands. I want to holler from the Front Desk, "The Norwegians are leaving! The Norwegians are leaving!" Now that the show's complete on DVD, I have to sit this entire town down and show it to them...

so far, a wonderful weekend. Yesterday spent time with good friends tromping around Downtown Los Angeles for an art deco tour. 2 and 1/2 hours of walking in smog and grit. Still it was the streets I love, the buildings I grew up around.., the history is amazing.

tonight - Sunday - so far.. Cooked dinner and reported a damaged disc to netflix..

going to San Francisco @ the end of the week for the Edwardian Gorey ball.. and to see my friends band.. Unextraordinary Gentlemen play.. - haven't been up north since 92!
