@Paul - Edited my first post.

@Reymar - I'm not saying that tap water is perfect, either, but I'm not going to claim The Man is after my Precious Bodily Fluids, either. I am going to say that tap water is safer than most environmental water you're liable to find, and I personally don't think that there's much difference between most bottled waters and tap water beyond the filtration. That hasn't been my experience, and I haven't seen any evidence that really convinces me that all bottled water is bad, nor that all tap water is bad.

All in all, I agree with Paul that education is more valuable than fear-mongering and assumption. Just learn what's in your water of choice and what whatever is in it will do in the amounts that it exists.

I can't do bottled water, it is just ridiculous in environmental terms. (watch the VBS.TV thing on the plastic in the pacific) Though glass bottles are better, if you recycle them, transportation still is silly.

I remember there was a huge uproar about the flouride added to the water a while back... cant remember the details, tho.

I guess in the end, the chorine and flouride and stuff is not great, but better than anything I'll get from the ground, these days. Those Britta filters filter some of the crap out, though who knows how much they really do.

aike I mentioned that in one of my posts, I had a brita filter you attach to the faucet. I figured it would churn out critter safe water, unfortunately it didn't and I lost a dozen peeper tadpoles I had brought back from Oregon...

I quit buying bottled water about half a year ago, anyone know why they haven't gone to aluminum cans? Aluminum has a much higher recycle rate, can be crushed easier, and would probably be more resistant to the flavor change that happens to plastic bottles in the sun/heat.
