New week's releases should be up at http://www.piccadillyrecords.com at some point today, if they're not already - just choose a genre from left and click "magic mix" to stream excerpts from the new releases.
Currently listening to Christina Carter, which is a mistake, as it's a bit soporific for a Monday morning...
misophone - Where has it gone, all the beautiful music of our grandparents? It died with them, that's where it went... via audio - Say Something Onra - Chinoiseries burial - untrue
unfortunatly i'm mostly forced to 'listen' to the shit they play on the radio at work, stuff that makes me want to rip my brains through my nose with a brick.
luckily when i got home http://www.myspace.com/sinesteticimusic saved my ears.
Thanks to Gillen, I'm listening to a load of stuff from last year that didn't click at the time for one reason or another, particularly Architecture in Helsinki, Burial & Tall Pony (which my girlfriend adores, rather ironically). Looking forward to getting the Eels B-sides collection next week, when I get paid (thank god it's almost the end of January...).
the new Black Mountain rocks hard. been listening to that for a while now, but today i've been listening to:
High Rise - Live Jackie-O Motherfucker - Flags of the Sacred Harp Magik Markers - Boss The Congos - Heart of the Congos (one of my favourite reggae albums ever, and Lee Scratch Perry's wildest production.)
I caught myself humming David J's V for Vendetta themes today, and by some roundabout pattern of thought, it occurred to me that I haven't listened to Alan Moore's spoken word stuff in many many months. Thus, an evening is planned....
For some reason I had 'Chick Chick Chick Chick Chicken' stuck in my head this morning - fucking horrible. Unfortunately we didn't have any music on at work and it stayed there until lunch... I contemplated a frontal lobotomy with a Bic at one point and I'm sure some part of me died. Luckily I removed it with LFO's 'Freak' and Squarepusher's 'Hello Meow'. Now it's 4am #9 before sleep.
At the moment, mostly David Bowie. I'm in one of those moods where I want to revisit things I am familiar with rather than experience new things at the moment.
The Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir - Fighting and Onions Ladytron - Light and Magic and Mr. Airplane Man, because I can never get enough of that shit. Plus Bruce Springsteen's We Shall Overcome record.
