It's really difficult to get publishing rights back from DC, so it's pretty unlikely you'll see Young Liars at another publisher - at least for a long time.
J. M. DeMatteis seems to be able to navigate such waters rather well over the years. I am guessing it has a large part to do with the nature of the contract you signed before you created the work and the number of years the book has to stay out of print before the rights revert back.
This would be SWEET! I'd love to see Dave start a new creator-owned at Avatar with ANY of the current Avatar artists. It'd be cool to see him work with Jacen Burrows specifically.
Right now I'm buying pretty much anything David Lapham does, barring any superhero stuff. Anyone who can combine batshit-insane and down-to-earth in the way Young Liars does has my full attention. Doing it at Avatar would simply be a nice bonus.
Stray Bullets? At Avatar? I had not even considered that.
That would be incredible, but I suspect it's something completely new, which is just as good. Mr. Christensen has been smart (insane?) enough to let top talent do what they want, giving them a vested interest in something they own and are excited about. I haven't seen it go wrong yet. So, whatever Lapham is (if he is) doing for Avatar, it will be mind-blowing.
Is there a good online store where one can find all of Stray Bullets? I'm looking around my usual digs and I'm having no luck.
(To be completely honest I downloaded a couple of issues after hearing joe & co. rave about it and, woah, fuck. It's amazing.)
I don't really want to buy it second hand or whatever because I'd rather the money go to Mr Lapham, not some reseller who's jacked up the price because of how hard they are to find. If David Lapham does go to Avatar, I hope part of the deal is getting Stray Bullets back in print permanently.
was stray bullets ever finished? or is everyone one else left hanging like me? stray bullets has been and will remain on of my favorite comics of all time. I tried following david around for a bit afterward, picking up his run on batman... and his daredevil/punisher... but have been totally unaware of his recent offerings. this thread has led me to Young Liars, which I'm eager as all hell to pick up. if nothing else, I've learned that I need to develop a better report with my LCS owner.

just read the first issue of Young Liars on DC.com. I'll pick up the trade.
corey... is ebay one of your usual digs? I picked up a "Lot" of stray bullets a few months back. issues 1-26 with a few duplicates, amy racecar special, and issue #1 of murder me dead.
wait... that would fall under "reseller" huh? shit. nevermind. download them then, until you can find them to buy. it's worth the read.
