Richard Calder's adaptation of his own novel, Dead Girls, into a graphic novel and featuring the artwork of Leonardo M Giron begins in Issue #9 of Murky Depths, due out September.
Issue #12 of Murky Depths will be shipping week commencing 10 May and concludes Act I of Dead Girls. Here's a teaser page from the final 12-page special:
When the full-colour hardback graphic novel of Act I is published later this year it will have eleven extra pages and a number of interesting tweaks. It will also be limited edition and signed by both Richard Calder and Leonardo M Giron. Very collectable . . .
Dead Girls - Act 1 - The Last of England available to pre-order at the website. Limited, signed, full-colour, hardback, numbered edition. Only 100, selling well already!
As much as I love supporting art as beautiful as that, a dollar a page for us Americans is a little steep... Best of luck in selling though, it looks like a great project!
For all those anticipating Dead Girls, Act 2 - The Big Weird . . . sorry. Now that Murky Depths has ceased we've had a rethink and are re-launching Dead Girls as an eight-comic series starting from the beginning. There's extra pages and covers from guest artists such as Rick Fairlamb, who illustrated Sam Stone's relaunched Vampire Gene series, Warwick Fraser-Coombe, who has illustrated several Interzone covers, Paul McCaffrey, who has recently illustrated Lavie Tidhar's controversial Going To The Moon picture book (not to mention DC's Men Of War), Monty Nero, who still works in the games industry, Marco Guaglione, Boden Steiner, Martin Baines, who illustrated the last issue of Murky Depths (#18), and the legendary Jim Burns will be illustrating Dead Girls #8. Dead Girls #1 - Born To Run launched at Cardiff Comic Con but can be ordered direct from the Murky Depths website. You can also take out a subscription to ensure your receive your copy as soon as it's available.
