Just finished SANDMAN SLIM, great read! I really want a shopping spree in Muninn's shop, and I'm looking forward to a sequel to hear more about what the guy with the bowling bag really has in mind.

I reviewed it for Good Reads

(For the spotter stats, I picked it up off Amazon. We don't have chain stores up here in the mountains.)

Thanks a lot of taking the time to review the book.
Muninn's play space will be expanding in book two. The guy with and the guy in the bowling bag are there, too.
Book two is tentatively titled KILL THE DEAD, which I hope sounds like part of a mid-70s drive-in double bill playing with Fulci's "Zombie."

I just found out that Sandman Slim has gone into a second printing. A first for me in the English laguage edition of any of my novels.

Oh man, Did I ever enjoy it. Sandman slim is like Good omens fucked the Punisher and that bastard child got into drugs and magic. I loved it. It was funny where it needed to be. Inventive. There wasn't a single character that I didn't like or hate for all the right reasons. It wasn't a stale overdone stories about a vampire or a Tolkien fantasy world. It was raw and gritty and I didn't put it down once. Excellent work. It is exactly this kind of stuff that gives me hope for fantasy literature, and I myself try to write.

Thanks, man. I’m glad you liked it. It was a fun project and I’m working on book 2 right now. I haven’t written a series before, so I still have a few things to learn. For now, though, it’s cool to have a book that a lot of people seem to like.

Ok, I'm convinced. That along with the twittered snippits demands I buy this fucking book already.

Thanks. I hope you like it.

It's funny, no one has ever mentioned the Punisher before. I'm aware of his existence, but I don't know the comic only know the terrible Thomas Jane movie. If they make a Sandman Slim movie, I can only hope it has a logo as cool as The Punisher.

Richard: Read http://www.amazon.com/Punisher-MAX-Vol-Garth-Ennis/dp/0785118403 and the rest of Marvel MAX run by Garth Ennis. You might cry tears of joy.

If it's by Ennis I just might.

Hi. I haven't been around here for a while since I'm finishing Sandman Slim 2. I'm stopping by today because some nice news came out of the blue. Barnes & Noble listed Sandman Slim among the "Best Paranormal Fantasy Novels of the Last Decade."

It's actually a pretty impressive list. If you're looking for modern and/or cool urban fantasy novels, the list contains a lot of very good suggestions.

With any luck, the new book will be done next week. Wish me luck!

Ehh, I'm not how much faith I'd put in the accuracy of that list. Storm Front was probably the worst of the Dresden series and the less said about the Merry Gentry series, the better. That said, Sandman Slim was really, really good and I look forward to the second in what I hope will be a long-running series.

To celebrate four of its books making Barnes & Noble's paranormal fantasies of the decade, Eos is offering 20% off on each title. They include
DEAD WITCH WALKING by Kim Harrison
THE NYMPHOS OF ROCKY FLATS by Mario Acevedo
THE SCENT OF SHADOWS by Vicki Pettersson
    SANDMAN SLIM by Richard Kadrey.

    Just follow the bouncing link.

Sandman Slim 2 is finished. Bring me a claw hammer and some Jameson's. Daddy needs a nap.

BryanL's comment has made the decision of what to buy to read on the flight to Perth this Christmas. Sounds like my cup of tea.

And, as no one else has mentioned him, in reply to your first question about Urban Fantasy worth reading (way back when) I'm personally rather attached to Simon R Green's Nightside series.

I like Simon Green's stuff, but I've noticed that for him it's the easiest thing in the world to reuse certain phrases suddenly and violently and all over the place.

Looking forward to Sandman Slim 2, Mr. Kadrey. Appreciate your hard work. Enjoy the Jameson's and stay away from me with that claw hammer.
