I had to admit that I thought of this forum when I read the comment about the 'flightless birds' on page 2, as someone here was discussing whether chickens can fly.
I also liked how they both ganged up on Miki. Arkady and Kait are like squabbling siblings.
I didn't understand something on Page 6 though:
It's still freaking new girl's shit out.
Ah upon re-reading it (for the 4th time), is it referring to Alice? As in, Arkady's disappearing act is freaking Alice out?
I'd seen that before, however missed some kind of pronoun/article to indicate it, such as 'our' new girl, or 'the' new girl. So I misread it as:
It's still new girl's shit out - the I took to be a tamer form of 'fucking', as in, 'it's still fucking new girl's shit', as in it's Arkady's new shit, her new thing, new gimic, is the translocation skill.
Then I couldn't figure what the 'out' was.
Nevermind, ignore me. I hadn't heard the phrase 'to freak someone's shit out' before but I do kinda like it.
Lovely segment with some great lines ("The damp kind," Arkady's sudden I'm all here response). It may not have last segment's funny yet oddly appropriate Quincy love sequence, but that's okay.
As for my week, it's been more bad or annoying stuff than good. One of the big bad ones has been a friend's publicly and snidely accusing me of being a liberal racist because I said I couldn't fit in time to check out "American Violet." To give her the benefit of the doubt, I'm assuming she didn't know that the film had already left the theaters by the time she told me about it. The other was the collision between an 82-year-old man and a commuter train during rush hour. What weirded me out was not only that one of my co-workers was on the train that hit the guy, but that there had been two other such collisions on this train line within the past couple of weeks.
Loved the argument. Reminded me of friends, of work, and of various zany arguments we've had in the past. Good dynamic to it and flow, and the artwork with it was perfect with its expressions. Good job, gentlemen.
Dear internest jesus is the flesh... This story builds on the 1st couple of issues to become pure awesome, until page 4 panel 5 when it wiggles it's it hips, thrusts and goes "hey awesome, i OWN you completely until the NEXT issue when i'm going to rent out your duodenum BECAUSE I AM THAT AWESOME I CAN."
The thing I loved most was the utter display of what a family the FAs are. The fact that after going on such a rage against each other, that both Kait and Arkady will suddenly team up and turn on Miki.
@stsparky Exactly! I feel so much for Miki as I'm often left to be the adult and often I hate it and typically nothing good comes of it but people getting cranky with me even though they were being ridiculous snots not two seconds earlier. Poor thing. Poor, smart, amazing thing. thank goodness Kait's krazy shootin' didn't injure her or Arkady.
My week has been shit, then more shit, then the the universe laughing and pointing out that I smell like shit. I may or may not have a new vehicle today or tomorrow. I hope I do. And I hope it runs well for a year or two and next week I find work so that I can salvage this nightmare shitty month.
If this wasn't done by Uncle Warren and Mister Duffield, I'd be pissed about the pacing and the four panel grids. But it all feels right. Even if I don't know where anything is going, I don't care. I enjoy the company of these fucking lunatics.
It's a mystery!! WOOHOO!!! A little 'whodunnit' to add to the storylines. I hope my brain can keep up. Kait's teleporting panel? Quite an amazing piece of work, as there's no really good model to get the concept of what's happening from.
Got my stuff into my new place in Portland today. As soon as I get a job, "Ich bin ein Portlander!"
