    Thank you chaps and/or chapettes!

@Ken Miller; Alberto is on the money: it's a take on the idea of her as Anansi (or, more specifically, Anansi as Aunt Nancy in the corrupted Gullah form).

@Egypt; She's wearing combat boots to ... uh ... stomp out crime?

@Dunnagin; Awesome pencilling! I wish I had the confidence to get so strong with my outlines.

Not exactly sure what I was thinking, except that I wanted to draw a crazy chick in a ripped up Spidey mask...

    ALL HAIL THE SPIDER QUEEN!

    The Spider Queen

Sort of a Frazetta-type character I guess... it let me to mess around with some new brushes in Painter for an hour or two :)

@quetzal ...trippy. I can taste the colors.
@frequentcontributor....I demand that this be made into a comic book, fastquick! Preferably written by someone good at the UltraV, like Ennis or Dorkin.

Here's my own take, inspired by more sources than I care to list.

    SpiderQueen

Ambidextrous typist. Dual processor consciousness. Inspired by her heroes both real and fictional, her "web" of justice flowing from her hands, she fights crime by writing about it. She's an open source superhero with a blogging jones. Constantly connected to her vast sources of information, she has earned herself the pen name, "The Spider Queen".

The "Deadbull" can with the overturned, rigor-mortis bull is about the damn funniest thing I've seen this morning.

Oh yes, the drawing is good too. I like the many different takes we're getting this week.

A bit later than usual for me, but I've been busy writing. In fact, I still am, so only raw pencils this time.

These threads just keep wowing me over and over. Uplifting and humbling displays every time.

Overnight this thread has long since passed the point where I dare post, which is an arse, As I actually finished yesterday, but didn't have time to scan.
    Ah well.

Dunnagins mechanically armed Spider Queen is the wow point for me so far in terms of design.
Brian Le Golem made me laugh. The quality of work in this thread is stunning.

    Thanks for the compliment!

You have to post! I love seeing all of the different takes on the character... please, pretty please?
  6.  (5878.14)
    @Dunnagin: Stunning stuff.

@krista noisrot: Compelling take. I would buy that, were it serialised. After all, Top Hats make everything stylish...

@Sobreiro: Dammit! All that time I spent, and you just prove to be ten times as awesome as me! I will grumble angrily...nyarll...

Seriously though, that is one fantastic rendering of the character and has a load of stuff I'd never thought of.

Click on the image for the DeviantArt page featuring my re-imagined 'origin story' which I will not post here because it is too long.

    @LukasKetner

A very fine looking spider, and the Queen ain't too bad-looking either.
  8.  (5878.17)
Sobreiro: Wow! Looks like some Dan Brereton creeping into your work with the spiral pattern. Super nice!!!

Aurora Borealis: Hilarious. I love the smaller spiders eating the people...

MDominic: Love the idea of typing on two keyboards with both hands at once! Sort of looks like an Igor Kordey drawing...

LukasKetner: Just freaking AWESOME!!! I'd watch a soft-core porn about THAT!

    Spiddyqueen

I thought I'd have a crack at this, whilst trying to deviate from seriousness. I wish I'd had time to ink this up. its just pencil, and as you might note, has no shading. I just feared that if I didn't get it posted tonight, I wouldn't manage. unfortunately, bad lettering layout ate some of the pic.
  10.  (5878.19)
I found this especially difficult because I'm scared of both spiders and women.
    Remake Remodel Spiderqueen
The idea is that she is some sort of crazed spidergod.
