At this moment, I'm pretty much just clicking the Play buttons here -

Common Market-Tobacco Road. American underground hip-hop. Objectively speaking, its not their best album, and it could really use some cutting down, but for some reason it has a certain charm for me that I can't quite pin down.

Bought Sky Larkin's debut album yesterday. It's by-the-numbers indie pop made by two guys and a girl from Leeds, who are into things like fossils and antibodies. I really like it.

@nigredo-- What did you think of it? I'd never tried a Sunn O))) album before, unless you count their Boris collab, 'Altar'... While I adore 'Altar', 'M&D' bored me. Well, maybe bored is the wrong word-- it's very well-executed, but it didn't really -do- anything for me.

Iggy and the Stooges - Raw Power and Fun House
High on Fire - Blessed Black Wings
Motorhead - Overkill and Ace of Spades
Saint Vitus - Born Too Late
    Obsessed - Lunar Womb

Been listening to all of Wino's old bands since seeing him open up for Clutch last weekend. He was supposed to play the stuff from his new album, but Jon Blank (who was playing bass for him) OD'ed and died recently, so he decided to tour anyway and just play acoustic sets. It was amazing. I'm not sure how many people exist that can pick up an acoustic guitar and churn out a set of serious doom metal, but Wino is definitely one of them.

startin t'think that i may not be typical in the Whitechapel listening pool. i see a pile of electronian and industrialized sounds, (f'r lack of a better descriptor - work with me here...).
...Not that i'm calling anyone here 'typical', so dun get yer hackles up.

Here in (Denton) Texas, Twang is in the Heart.

Lucy Loves Superbillion has been getting a lot of play trough my shitty laptop speakers recently.
Other than that there's been some Modest Mouse, some The Roots, a bit of Ellen Allien, and the soundtrack to System Shock 2.

I like them a lot so I'm a bit biased, but I found it really cool to listen to. I like the wider variety of sounds.

Bennie Maupin - The Jewel in the Lotus

    Herbie Hancock 7 (+1) - March 22, 1973 Boston,Ma. Jazz Workshop

    BEAR VS SHARK-relax....
    MINISTRY-rio grande blood
    PROPAGANDHI-potemkin city limits

i am slowly but surely getting excited to see propagandhi this weekend. it will be almost 13 years since the first time i did...the combination of getting old and bands that stay together for a long time is weird.

Cheeseball rock and roll can really bring a smile to my face.

Thus, I was delighted when DIRTY KARMA of Mexico City befriended my band on the myspace. I really quite enjoyed the first few tunes.

NASA - Diamonds & Wood (cassette)
Re-listening to Boris & Sun O)))'s 'Altar', the 14:46 'Bloodswamp' segued almost -seamlessly- into the first track of this garage-prog distortion festival. Very driven shit! Definitely going to get some heavy rotation out of this one.

Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter - Like, Love, Lust & The Open Halls of the Soul
Haven't heard yet, but will be listening en route to work tonight. Another 'Altar'-related investigation.

...A nice leisurely walk later: Jesse's vocals are soft'n'smokey, the lyrics imagist and wistful; overall, the album alternates between sparse & lush w/ the recording lovingly reproducing both the singer's & the instruments' faults, transmuting them into strengths. Striking. Country w/ the occasional rock/pop hook. Total keeper. Favorite tracks at the mo seem to be 'You Might Walk Away', 'How Will We Know', and 'Aftermath'.

    THIS guy
not only were my spirits picked up, but Heaven and Hell are fucking awesome!
I hope Warren never has to deal with THAT type of fan!
