Annie's interpretation wins for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is the excellent cross-chest sleeve/shirt layer which has its own pocket protector. This is brilliant.

i like to read warren's comics and blog, but i always forget to add whitechapel to my list of stops each day. came today and thought the remake/remodel sounded interesting...interesting enough for a first post, perhaps.

that's the quick flat color version, but there's also a black and white version.

    @ Annie,

Nice work. I checked out your webpage too. I love the Star Trek girls. I work at Bad Robot and I've been showing people. We all got a kick out of that.

    Thanks for the comments, everyone.

I'm really digging how creepy the toad looks in all the entries. I think it's the dead, somewhat hypnotic eyes that do it for me.

@ Peter Podgursky: That is indeed very cool. Thanks. I loved the movie. I am enjoying a cold beverage from my Kirk glass at this very moment.

    All hail the hypnotoad!

To yet again comment but not contribute, I really like Sleemo's version as well. The technique of using static shots of the "power suit" to demonstrate some sort of Power Rangers-esque, Voltron-esque 'suit-up' scene is really inspiring. Not to mention the wide-panel shot of the frog and unique font choice is also excellent.

@ Annie: Some beautiful work on your website. Particularly like the February sketches with the woman smoking

Here's my Gadget man. Jumped off on the "licking the toad" thing. Hallucinogens...etc

@Yoav - I don't even know what I'm looking at - and I love it! The amount of clever detail in that sketch is just endlessly rewarding. There's a touch of ...erm...phallic nature about it.

@All - This is one of the best RE/RE threads I've seen. The less that Mr. Ellis gives you to work with - the more you all produce. Inspiring. Hopefully he'll start getting even more cryptic with his assignments, to wit: "Plunger. "

I thought a blivet (the devil's tuning fork!) might be a nice change from a regular ol' tuning fork.

Scratched this one down tonight, it was originally going to be part of a much bigger idea I had in mind.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to flesh it out later. Awesome entries so far, folks!
I really love @sleemo 's take on GadgetMan - I want to read THAT comic book, it sort of brings The Amazing Screw On Head to my mind...

Gadget Man - by Jeff Langcaon

Fun to draw, but not something I would want to have to do as a recurring character in panel after panel. - jeff

@David lee Ingersol: Lovely. I like the children's storybook feel of the floating-ghost-toad.
@Annie: I like the ghostbusters cartoon feel of yours.
@Sleemo: Can;t say why I like it, but I do.
