    There are definitely some really fun ideas on this thread, I love it.

    For the folks who were wondering, I sketched my piece in pencil and then colored it in Photoshop.

    @ Dunnagin and AngeliQ - Just noticed that we share cigar smoking toads. Ha! Brilliant.

    @sleem, mdevile - I'm actually going to be pitching my fish story to publishers, but if that doesn't work out, I've been considering doing it as a webcomic. Glad you like it!

    @dunnigan: Funny, I only just noticed the frog-eye goggles. Alot of really nice details in that design.

    @ Dunnigan: I love your pencils on this piece! The way you sum up some forms with an utter minimum of line and then get super-specific in other areas makes for a really energetic composition.

    @ken miller: Sorry, totally missed your comment earlier. No, I'm not a concept artist, but if you know anyone looking for one, feel free to give them my name :) haha

    Have you visited this site...

    It's where the concept art dudes hang out, and your work looks like it'd fit right in.

    Lacking time, energy or sufficient motivation, I basically submit this as a bare-bones WIP pen 'n' pencil sketch, lacking even the fancy logo I was going to put in the space below the main figure. Alas...

    In his early teens, Cecil 'Click' Rush worked as a Mountebank's assistant in the lean days of 1821, pretending to swallow toads, drink miracle cures, and test "inventions" for a living. Twenty years later, Cecil's life as a modest Squire is haunted by his past deeds...and he must avenge those he attempted to swindle with the very devices used to swindle them!

    Haunted by inanimate mechanical objects!

    Trapped by crippling guilt!

    Fuelled by distilled sailor's rum!

    Stalked by a Toad he never swallowed!

    THE GADGET MAN!

    Only on Fox.

    Anyone wants to have a go at finishing this, then you're perfectly welcome.

    @AngeliQ - I used Corel Painter Essentials 4 with a drawing tablet. All the fun of real acrylics, none of the mess.
  5.  (5927.172)
    - Okay I had a good drawing day and came up with something that doesn't involve poo (for once?) after I noticed Mr. Rush has a bit of a thing for gassing people unconscious:

    I haven't figured out how to add a larger version of this image to the thread but, for those interested, you can see it here.

    And I add my echo "So much good work!"

    @AngeliQ: great thing that that art block ended...! lean, mean, invigorating stuff...!

    Dunnagin: you remind me of Immonen via a "soft(er)" Templesmith... grrreat...!

    cheers...

    this thread is so good this week (and every week)!

    Gadget Man

    I became totally obsessed with the idea of a psychedelic connection to this gadgetry; thus a character who uses the frog's hallucinogenic properties to enhance his helmet's abilities to control the robot, 'gadget man'. Of course, addiction is a terrible thing...

    Was too late to submit for the Spider Queen, for those curious...

    This thread blew up like a cyclone, it was amazing to see how fast the various excellent interpretations came up. Congrats all!

    OK so I'm sick and it's late so this is unfinished, but I hope you can see where I was going.
    Which came first... the madman or the frog? My Click had a vision of the frog, and then created it. Here he's rescued (?!) a fellow adventurer.

    Simply AWESOME work this thread everyone :-) I hope to rejoin the living soon so I hope there's another one :-)

    @monotreme
    Interesting concept...but psychedelics won't ever make you addicted...and I doubt using a frog's space giggle juice could enhance his ability to maneuver a robot...on the other hand, maybe the frog is controlling him to control the gadget man...I like the idea, has lots to play with...

    @amanda
    niccccee :D there's even a passed out chick in there like on vintage movie posters, very steampunkish, deserves a bit of polishing :D

    Thanks AngeliQ, I promise I'll finish it (this week?) and put it on my website. I'm falling in love with steampunk... is everyone reading Girl Genius yet? I definitely stole some ideas for this one from there... like the buttons on the pants (did anyone have pants like that?) and Click's mad grin.

    This is my first R/R post (and only my second ever pic) using Manga Studio for the line work. It's great fun but I've got loads to learn!
