    This is perhaps the coolest part of the International Year of Astronomy that I've come across so far. A perfectly adequate telescope for $15 :)
    Apparently they need more orders to continue production, so if you've ever fancied getting into hands on astronomy, here's a good and outrageously cheap chance!

    Its only $43 incl. shipping, to Australia. Still, think I should wait a couple weeks for my next paycheck. Stupid mother for coming over from the far side of the country this weekend for a visit -- I HAVE PRETTY ASTRONOMICAL CURIOSITIES TO PURCHASE, DAMMIT!!

    I once used binoculars as a zoom lens. It took some cropping to make the photo look good but, conceivably, I could use this in the same way, right? Hopefully, I will know soon. Also, are there any restrictions on bringing this on a plane? I am travelling to a friends house who lives deep in the woods. This would be awesome where there is no light pollution.

    anyway, thanks.

    Well, I do some work for a gadget wholesaler that sells to places like firebox and and i've just shown this to the buyer. He liked it, so there's a fair chance they'll get a couple of thousand orders, from you posting this here.

    That's absolutely fantastic ^__^ Even one extra would have been good.
    I don't see any reason why a telescope couldn't go on a plane. I don't know how easy it would be to use this with a camera, but I do know that it is possible to use cameras with many telescopes.

    @Paul Duffield:

    Well, I just ordered three. One for me, one for the girlfriend (sharing is for muppets) and one for the kids of my best friend. Still less than I would have paid for ONE. Thanks!

    They're pretty decent little things. I was planning on ordering, then my actual telescope was destroyed by my idiot sister, and now I've ordered a very new (very expensive) full-sized telescope. Hopefully there will be some left when I get some more cash...
