Westboro Baptist Church decides to picket a non-gay persons funeral because he played a role in a movie which I doubt any of them ever saw? What absence of logic leads to this extremism of stupidity?
My theory on these asinine US religious hate groups is that is residual evidence of all those Religious Whackos that you Brits shipped over here back in the days when "New England" meant exactly that. Thanks alot guys...

And this scares the Hell outta me, especially the fact that they were homeschooled. I've know childeren that were homeschooled that were brilliant open-minded freethinkers, much more than the zombiefied products of our deplorable private and public school systems. But "Prussian Blue" shows that it cuts both ways, you can brainwash kids in to hate mongering litte bastards as well. (I think Peter David used them as inspiration for a X-factor story arc once... but i digress).

Westboro were recently ordered to pay $10 million plus in compensation for intentionally inflicting distress on the family attending the funeral of their war victim son, apparently. Personally, as far as religious wack jobs go, I think they're pretty entertaining, particularly the songs.

And at the end of the day, there's no such thing as God and they've wasted their lives. So it's hard to get angry about.

Hopefully a bunch of people dressed in purple suits and facepaint puts smiles on their faces.

Or if the family sues their asses off, that would be just as damaging, if not as personally satifying.

These people are about as sick as Westboro: http://truechristian.com/. Anything but preaching christian love and charity. Agree with ANMorgan,it is hard to get angry about them, or if you do it is futile since they will never understand reason or logic.

What percentage of people in that cult do you think have been molested? I'd say well over a quarter.

I like the way you think, sir.

I'm not sure about molestation, but I remember reading that there's a whole series of physical abuse in that family.

Obviously I hate Westboro' and all they stand for. It's all about one man and his close family (almost all the congregation are related to Phelps) making much bigger waves than they have any right to. A gentleman's agreement within the media to simply ignore the fuck out of them would probably piss Phelps off more than any amount of lawsuits. Don't feed the troll and all that.

The neo-nazi teenage folk duo just makes me incredibly sad. It's so fucking cruel that some people get twisted by their parents before they get a proper chance to learn about right and wrong. Maybe they'll grow out of it, I hope so. Kids tend to rebel against their parents sooner or later and right now I can't think of a more deserving case.

Well, if it is any comfort, Levicitus also proscribes the wearing of mixed fibres as an abomination, which ensures that the vast majority of the congregation of Westboro Baptist Church will be spending eternity in Hell…

I throughly believe in the Chris Rock theory of "Karma in Hate." Meaning, those two, in a few years, will probably turn into massive "booty-hoes" and both dating a seven foot black man named Leon.

This is a bit from the Southern Poverty Law Center's writeup on the Nazi Olsen Twins' mom:

She looks a little like Martha Stewart when she smiles, and fancies herself a white-power version of the domestic goddess, the kind of woman who rides "into battle in armor cutting the heads off my enemies but home in time to make a tasty dinner for my man."

A white power domestic goddess? There is just so much wrong here.

Louis Theroux did documentaries on both the Westboro Church and Prussian Blue. The twins revealed that they didn't really believe in what they were doing, they just wanted to keep their mum happy. She blew a fuse and forced them to carry on. Her hate seemed to be based around being raped by a black man when she was younger - sad really.

During the Westboro documentary, it turned one of the female leaders had a child 'out of wedlock' who was also a member. Seems you can forgive your own, not others - typical fucked up group.

This picture still cracks me up. However, I have a hard time laughing at Phelps and his vile band of morons. I still do, just sometimes it takes a few seconds to kick in.

I'm actually wondering why Phelps hasn't been killed yet. He invokes so much hate in people I'm SURE someone would have shot him long ago.

Also...you think his funeral will be picketed?

Just talking this morning about the notion of picketing his funeral. I wouldn't, out of principle - I think picketing someone's funeral is appalling, no matter who they were and what they stood for.

But there really should be "God hates Fred Phelps" signs out there.

As a Christian I'm just sick and saddened by these people. They are NOT Christian in any way shape or form. They are wolves in sheeps' clothing. They write a song called God Hates The World yet the Bible says the greatest commandment is love your neighbor as yourself and God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. How the fuck do you get confused by that? And if you don't believe that then you can't call yourself a Christian. Being a Christ follower means being full to the brim with love and compassion for your fellow humans, it means being respectful and accepting of people whether they believe the way you do or not. These people will pay dearly for all the evil fucked up shit they've stirred up.
As a Christian I'd like to apologize for them. If there was a way to reign them in and put a muzzle on them it would be done. They are the exception not the rule. My pastor called them out recently as pure heresy so I can speak for my whole congregation when I say they are on their own in their beliefs.

From an article about the documentary starring the Gaede family:

Other lowlights include April Gaede teaching her 3-year-old daughter Dresden the white power ABCs (“A is for Aryan, B is for blood…”) and April’s father Bill Gaede, a California rancher who brands his cattle and horses with swastikas, negotiating the purchase of an M-16. Bill Gaede tells the filmmakers that Mexicans rape horses and boasts that he’s personally shot six Mexicans in the past four years.

    ...

In another scene, April, who broadcasts a white-power radio show from her basement in Kalispell, Mont., implores Lynx to autograph merchandise for Prussian Blue’s fans. When Lynx complains, April scolds her and orders her to put on a happy face for the cameras. “Then you can act like as much of a cunt as you like for the rest of the night!” she snaps at her daughter.

Was curious to see if there was a YouTube video or clip of the documentary. No such luck, but stumbled upon this gem, on the 'band' website:

To those who claim that Prussian Blue's lyrics are hateful and incite violence, I would like to direct you to the poetry of Nikki Giovanni, the Virginia Tech professor of English and Black studies- who was also, incidently, the professor for Cho Seung-hui, the gunman/student, who shot and killed all those people a few weeks ago. I wonder if that is where he learned his contempt for other races and other people. Nikki Giovanni certainly writes very hatefully of White people.

I don't even know where to begin. In case you're looking for the SPL article, it's right here.
