    The first space port construction begins, and heres the link.

    I have to say that gizmodo is probably the shittiest resource to look up this information, anyone else find more info on this?

    It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, notice that the spaceport is just basically a small airport terminal and one gigantic run-way. Are they still supposing that future spaceships are to take off like airplanes? Not like nasa?

    It's a runway because it is being specifically designed to serve Virgin Galctic, which will be flying parabolic tours of the upper atmosphere using the Burt Rutan designed Spaceship Two, which launches from the undercarriage of a special airplane.

    I don't know of any other space tourism company that would require any other sort of facility. Rockets can be launched from any number of existing launch facilities all over the world.

    It will be interesting to see if there is enough business through just Virgin to support the facility in New Mexico. Anyone know of any other companies thatmight use it?
