Mostly used to reblog shared items from Google Reader (I added the RSS feed) and as a dumping ground for pics and such that I post to Whitechapel, so many of the photos lack context.
I had experimented with setting up filter links for the tags down the right hand side for a while, but got lazy and haven't been keeping my tags up.
My original intention was to use it as a live draft site, trying to implement the 'getting things done' methodology - accumulate pictures and quotes, tag appropriately ("filing"), start writing and posting chunks of article text, then finally make a 'dossier' post on LiveJournal or Whitechapel that would include links to all the supporting material, nicely tagged and such. This may actually spur me to get back into that again.
Feel free to follow, I will probably mass-add everyone.
I just started one a few days ago. Frustrated with the hooplah of wordpress when I just want something simple.
I've started posting a RANDOM PICTURE OF THE DAY as of today. I back dated a handful of random older posts from ancient blogs, just to ease my way in - some long and funny, some medical, some just pictures....
(I ramble too much here when given the opportunity, I realised. is tumblr not meant for that? is it meant as a long form twitter?)
I've had one for just about two years now. Mostly use it as a "Hey guys, check this out" sort of thing for the friends I don't talk to/hang out with on a regular basis - my own little magazine in a sense. I routinely repost cool/interesting/bizarre things I find on this board or at Warren's blog.
I've learned to ignore my Tumblarity number. I'm much happier now.
Yeah, add me to orwells_eyes club. Just started one today, so far just throwing sketches and concepts up from old abandoned projects that I'd like to resurrect. Maybe putting bits of them where I can see them will add some urgency: http://oddbill.tumblr.com/
Also started following everyone who has posted here. Some of you are not right in the head. That is a term of endearment in my native tongue.
World 1-1 has been running for over 9 months now. It was featured on the Cool Designs directory page (back when that still existed). Mostly videogamey and comicky stuff, although I sometimes will talk about my life very, very openly.
To boost my tumblarity, I blatantly steal stuff from the I Did Not Need To See That Imagethread. It works.
Mostly pictures, the odd article, and a few short rants, here and there. I've fallen in and out of love a few times with Tumblr. I'm pretty happy with it lately.
Or do you? Okay. I confess: I just rss subscribe to various tumblr pages like I do to everything else. Would following someone through tumblr itself gain me something in particular?
Edit: I mean, aside from the bit of fun that Warren describes in the link he posted. I guess what I'm asking is ... interesting little points algorithm aside ... does it have any particular function that I'm failing to notice? Do you kids like it? Is it, like, cool and stuff?
