My tumblr is here, but I've been using it less than a week and am still working on the design. I like the tumblr iphone app's ability to post on the go. I've also set up the pixelpipe app to upload to vimeo, which updates tumblr with my video. And tumblr updates twitter and facebook. If I could get it to update LJ, I would be all set. So far so good.
These are kind of a dime a dozen on Tumblr but I recently started a second Tumblr account for collecting inspiring bits of art and photos and design stuff: http://hypertonic.tumblr.com/
It's not even remotely useful; more like a car guy's version of fantasy-football; I find vehicles for sale and stick 'em into my "dream fleet" in a virtual warehouse...
"Free Radio Furious is a pirate channel. It is an inspiration aggregate, a strange attractor accumulator, and an ideation machine."
Which is me saying I find (re:steal) strange or interesting pictures or art or music videos and dump them there, occasionally with some short numinous thought of mine that might or might not have anything to do with it. I'm trying to decide if that makes it more or less about me than most of the things I do online.
Right at the moment it's sporting a pin-up of Marge Simpson from the latest issue of Playboy.
Just started mine (moments ago) because I've tried various blogging tools/sites/whatevers, only to find I have neither the attention span or the free time to keep them updated. Like so many others, I choose to dump all things awesome that I come across on the internets in there, and keep my fingers crossed that some other weirdos out there will be as tickled as I was about those things.
Simply to teach myself how to use Tumblr, I haven't touched it in a few weeks. I honestly don't like Tumblr that much, but I'm very much biased due to being a Wordpress guy.
I use mine to power the linklog-y bit of my current website, so it currently gets content from my delicious bookmarks, my flickr stream and once I get into the habit, I'll be pushing stuff in through my google reader. I did try getting it to import my shared items but I'm quite prolific there, so it was getting a bit overwhelmed. You can find it @ http://intergalactic.tumblr.com - occasionally it even gets a traditional blog post.
The following interface for tumblrs on the dashboard drives me nuts, so I tend to subscribe to them through my google reader.
haven't updated for a while, but will do soon. it's the first sentences of novels, at the moment only novels i've read, but that could change when i get bored.
great idea. i had a poetry professor way back who used to talk about the importance of the first line in a story or a novel. the example he cited was from The Postman Always Rings Twice: "They threw me off the hay truck around noon." And based on the worn-brown pages in the notebook from which he taught, it seemed like he had been amping up that line for at least a decade.
my tumblr. Started so I could email myself ideas via Blackberry device. And because of the Happy()Sad theme.
speaking of blackberry, anyone have a recommendation on a tumblr program for that phone?
I just started one here. It's a mix of random things I find interesting or compelling, though a lot of the links and whatnot will probably be from various threads here and from Warren. I went through and followed a handful of people who posted theirs here earlier, so if you're wondering who that new person is, it's me.
