    my suspicion is that by having a tumblr i'll neglect my other blogs.
    but given i've been neglecting my other blogs, then maybe its a fresh start i need to jump start myself?
    anyway. so i started a tumblr. i'm still not sure i get the whole thing. but that's how these things work...

    I've started one today! I tried Wordpress but couldn't get away with it. I've followed a lot of the above people, a lot of great work there :)
    I'm using it as a quicker way to upload my photography (my website takes a bit longer to sort), and hopefully my sketching which I am trying to get back into.

    Tumblarity, like being the popular kid in high school, reflects how others think of you and your submissions. It's all a bit convoluted really, so i'll just paste in a reply i made to a friend bemoaning theirs:

    Why bother with tumblarity in the first place? It goes down the more original posts you make, but inflates the more generally-accepted/reblogged you become. Want high tumblarity, post pictures of squirrels doing cute things, Arcade Fire lyrics over a blurry cityscape or a picture of some pornstar wearing clothes (for once).

    Fuck. That.

    Everyone reposts the Little Miss Sunshine quote, Life is just one beauty pageant after another. Well, tumblarity is the same thing, and copying the same semi-idyllic post to which you appreciate the sentiment but oppose in action is retarded.

    It’s your blog, kiddo. You post what you want, and nothing else. It’s a big ol’ tumblr, and there’ll always be people who like what you have to say. Just maybe not as much as they like kittens.

    Fuck knows what it's for. Sort of an internet notepad / jumble of things I found. I like the stream-of-conciousness nature that Tumblr allows me; I intend to use it for posting photos that don't belong on Flickr. It feels nice and unofficial, as though people are tapping into my hindbrain, rather than my blog, which feels like it has to be polished and official-like.

    Bear in mind these are the 4am ramblings of a man with a head full of snot and decongestants and codeine.

    Lots of good stuff here! Just started following several of you...

    @ lazarus corporation- LOVE the old books and libraries! Photos of amazing libraries, or even just nifty bookshelves, are basically my porn.

    @ Davies0010- Perfect. Fuck the poopularity contest. Tumblr is a self expression like any other blog and I say it's perfectly fine to do it in a selfish way, filling it with nonsense that perhaps only you find intriguing enough to cut and paste. I've found that one downfall to finding more tumblrs to follow is the annoying repetition of certain posts. Bleh, I'm done.

    If Tumblr weren't the perfect hub to dispense all my tweets, buzzes and feeds without repeating each other, I wouldn't see the point of it. But I'm a cranky old man who hates technology.
