Recently linked my regular blog to my Tumblr, and now that they don't show you that fucking hideous hipster idea of Tumbularity, I'm using int more regularly.
Thoughts on whatever is preoccupying me at a given time, other people's thoughts on issues related to what's preoccupying my thoughts, quotes I like, link dumps to things I've seen here and there (including on Whitechapel) that I'd like to return to or think others should know about, and directions to things I like.
Now that I've had mine for a bit, it seems to developed as my repository for art (interesting/beautiful images, odd and compelling animation, music) and research (psychology, global/public health, and environmental issues), plus random odds and ends.
And for paying homage to the great Tex-Mex breakfast taco. Oh sainted little breakfast tacos, how I adore thee. Bless me with thy delicious grace while I worship thy form and consume thy flesh. (Stupid breakfast-taco-less Florida!)
Hey there, partners. I'm making my own comic book, all by myself. No publisher. It's just me doing a comic book for myself, my way, like Subway. It's called FUNRAMA. I've been working on it since I was 10 years old. And I'll be working on it for the rest of my life. You can order the first book and I will mail it to you! No Publisher! Just me. You can view its progress here on my Tumblr. Thanks for looking.
So, has Tumblr conquered the world as a brilliant combination of blogging and social media networking? Or have people just realized its another blogging platform?
See if anything I've been seeing Twitter exponentially grow at a slow-but-steady pace as a major go for people interested in comics/webcomics as well as comic creators. The trick is that they're not bowling over each other to act like it's a straight-up social media website like Myspace, a be-all-end-all. But that's another story on my beliefs on social media...
A friend of mine just had this great brain storm, but alas, knows very few artistic type people. I've therefore offered to try and spread the word to help this idea take off. It's one of those submission blog tumblrs:
and it's for an honorable principle. It's only days old, so there's little content thus far. I myself am currently scribbling away on a few possible drawings.
On this blog I post ratings and amateur observations of the 50 or more new releases I see per year as well as rankings, ramblings, and other film lists. I've seen 11 2010 US releases so far with "A Prophet" and "Shutter Island" being the strongest. My most recents updates are my dogging of "Iron Man 2" and the last 5 films that made me cry or come close. Take a look if you wish. Be forewarned I do not claim to be a wordsmith, but hope I am able to make my points anyways.
