    I need advice from those of you more media-immersed than my good self...

    Can any of you recommend me any female actresses/celebrities with tomboy good looks/charm?

    I need inspiration for base sketches on a new story I'm doing.

    Mm... Hillary Swank? I have a hard time knowing what tomboy means in a visual context. Boyish? Tough?

    I'm veering towards boyish/fae looking.

    The character's slender, jeans, tees, Converse (grr). Just graduated from the Academy, so early twenties. Short hair (either bob or Winona Ryder/Annie Lennox style).

    I used to obsess over this, and now I can't really bring one to mind. A lot have left this look, as femme has become more in. I love short hair on women, so this might seem like an odd list.

    So, some:

    Sigourney Weaver in Alien/Aliens
    Winona Ryder in the 80s and the 4th Alien movie.

    Linda Hamilton, Terminator.

    Fairuza Balk - The Craft, and lots of video game voice work.
    Olivia Wilde - 13 on House - there's a few photos out there of her acting tough. In interviews she has the kind of tomboyish feel you're talking about.

    If you're looking for fae, androgyn, perhaps Tilda Swinton? She played Gabriel in "Constantine", but don't hold that against her, she was also in "Adaptaion".
