I suspect alot of you have a passing acquaintance with my perverse baby, Dr. Sketchy's. How many of you attend it?
Post up your art, photography, cross stitch, graffiti stencils, decorative cakes and obscene haikus that you made at a Dr. Sketchy's. And tell me where in the world you attended
I would love to attend one of these someday. From the photos I've seen it really looks like the figure drawing session from my dreams. Interesting models, lavish setups and a roomy, comfortable set up for the artists.
You know, I only ever heard about the Dr. Sketchy's in Portland, OR and have never realized that there were others until now. Just found out that there's one in Toronto which is incredibly awesome. I'm not able to make next month's session, but the one after that I'll definitely be going to!
While I've not been to one yet (I'll have to change that soon), a number of friends have been to the various Dr. Sketchy's held regularly in the Kansas City, MO/KS metro area. Come to think of it, I've got at least one burlesque performer friend that's modeled for it as well.
I've attended Dr. Sketchy's Baltimore and that one Baltimore mini-session you did ages ago as part of your book tour.
Here's one of my drawings from the last session I attended. It was done with my non-dominant hand but it ended up being my favorite sketch from the evening.
I only just heard of Dr. Sketchy's through chatter on the Artists' Thread. And worse, I lived near one for four years. Now I don't live anywhere near there any more. Dang.
That's a really impressive sketch for your nondominent hand. Whenever I try to do it,I get the monkey claw. No way could I draw a face that delicate lefthanded
After some searching, I found that there is one in Edinburgh as well, or at least someone who's stolen the concept. It's like an art-class/ socialising event with drinking and burlesque models, yes? Seems interesting. I might attend it in Edinburgh on the coming saturday: Dr Sketchy's Edinburgh.
I haven't been to one in a while, so I deserve to be spanked. But I sometimes show up at the Nashville Dr. Sketchy's hosted by the lovely peoples from Music City Burlesque. An older Skeychy sketch of Miss Kicky LaRue:
Just an aside: The next show is the 19th of July from 6-9pm at The 5 Spot, just in case any local Whitechapel folks want to stop by...

The next show is the 19th of July from 6-9pm at The 5 Spot, just in case any local Whitechapel folks want to stop by...
Heh, thanks. I might make it out for that. :)
And this one I did of Pandora, back when it was still at the Lucky Cat. (I no longer use pastels at Dr Sketchy's because of the mess they make lol)
Oh, and here's one of Kiki Valentine at the New Haven Dr Sketchy's, just to prove that I do heads too (lol), I just don't usually have time or put my figure in the wrong part of the page:
I should probably use a scanner instead of just my cell phone camera, but none of these are finished anyways. I've been keeping them all up in a flickr album: http://www.flickr.com/photos/miserynotes/sets/72157607287794245/ (you may have to be logged into flickr to see them)
