    Wow, that's slightly tenuous. Do they think the rabid Bondites will be satisfied with that?

    Why couldn't they have just gone with 007? At least the plot sounds more like a Dalton entry (my favourite Bond).

    It just doesn't say 'Bond' to me. Sounds more like a Harry Potter title. I hope we can look forward to Daniel Craig fleeing the russians on his broomstick!

    Rule of thumb for James Bond titles.
    If 'gold' is in the title, it's a good one.
    Anything else - bit hit and miss.

    It's an actual title of an original ian flemming story so theres that i guess.

    My initial reaction wasn't "wow!", but after letting it settle it makes sense. Look up the story the title comes from, it fits with what they are doing with the character of Bond. Remember, Casino Royale was Bond as a newbie double-o. I guess this film will shape him into the more recongisable version of the character.

    Anyway, for those who don't understand the title, there's Die Hard, Kickboxer, Lethal Weapon... or, you know, the opportunity to open a dictionary.

    This would be the best film ever if it was just two hours of Bond at a party, sighing and avoiding everyone there while morosely sipping his cocktails.

    I got pretty mad when they named the last one Casino Royale.

    it means that even less people know what I'm talking about when i refer to this film
    casino royale
    sellers as bond

    Parody or no, for my money there is no better James Bond than Peter Sellers, I'm sorry!

    Regardless, I would really love to see a more ponderous Bond film,
    Quantum of Solace sounds like it could be it.

    Yes, it harks back to a Fleming story, but it's also completely unwieldy and rather, dare I say it, pretentious, like many of the earlier Bond titles. I was hoping these new films would shy away from that, giving us a more pared back Bond. I can see what they're going for with the title, but surely there are better ways of saying it.

    The Peter Sellers CASINO ROYALE is in fact the best Bond film. I wrote this about it once:


    CASINO ROYALE is not only the best Bond film ever made, but it is possibly the best film ever made. It features the following exchange between Peter Sellers and Peter O’Toole:

    Peter O’Toole: “Are you Richard Burton?”

    Peter Sellers: “No, I’m Peter O’Toole.”

    Peter O’Toole: “Then you’re the finest man who ever breathed.”

    That’s it. One second after that, staff should have come out of the wings of every cinema in the world to thank people for attending, and then closed their doors. The cinemas should have been boarded up and the film-making industries of the planet dissolved, for the art of cinema was Complete and Over.

    I love the "OMG it's horrible hollywood crazy nonsense title!" crowd already forming on Bond sites, IMDB, etc. Just because it shows that they don't even realize it is a Fleming book.
