Also known as, of course, Tuvan Throat Singing. I am looking for some. Does anyone happen to know some names of singers that might assist in my search? I know Warren likes this stuff, so I am hoping for some tips from our lord and master...

    Thanks

Do you already know about Paul Pena and Genghis Blues?

That will lead you to Kongar-ol Ondar.

And if you follow those links and google around a bit, it will lead you to many other throat singers...

Yat Kha is a very cool Tuvan band, with some rock/etc. influences added to the mix. Hey, they even did a covers album including songs by Motörhead and Sonic Youth if I remember correctly :). My favorite album of theirs is "Aldyn Dashka".

You can't go wrong with some Huun Huur To, also. I saw them live once, they're really good.

And search for some old recordings in libraries, etc. There are some gems hidden in these records usually.

Yat-kha Tuvan Throat Rock / Punk

It is pretty cool, somewhere there is a live version of him doing black magic woman, which is pretty funky.

Hmm, my finger slipped, it's Huun-Huur-Tu, not To. I've got no idea where this "o" came from... :).

I think I found something. A group (?) called The Eternal Choir? I'm downloading it now, but I've used up my download limit, so I'm stuck at dial-up until Sunday...

I'll see if I can find this Huun-Huur-Tu...
