Ok I just tried SL for the first time using the Linux version, selecting a default Harajuku style when making an account.
Spent 20 minutes walking around; I couldn't see myself, I guess while it downloaded graphics for the first time or something, but everyone else claimed I was naked.
Is the Linux version that buggy, or where they playing some kind of joke?
@warren: That doesn't make sense. SL errors, especially errors of the avatar nature, tend to be global, rather than localized. It'd be like Woodstock without the drugs if everyone was naked.
@radian: Next time you try, right click on your avatar, select 'Take Off >' then select 'Clothes >'. If you have any options... then either you somehow are wearing invisible clothes, or Warren was right and your avatar has a funky server bug, or people are messing with you. If it's the last one, I have weapons you can use. :D

I've lost count of the times I've stood in the middle of an empty sim with no clothes on, a shoe up my bum, inventory refusing to come through, and no bandwidth issues at all. SL server-side errors, in my experience, come in all shapes and sizes...
Good rule of thumb - if your av is invis to you, assume you are naked and log off. Clear your cache and relog, then rebake your textures from the client menu.
