So a while back I found, a little internet toy where you type in a name and make a "brute" who you can then have go and smack other brutes up side the head. It's not really a game as the fighting is all automated, so any strategy is in trying to pick suitable opponents.

There's nothing saying you can't have more than one, so I made a bunch. I then realized that it was taking me more than half an hour to have all of them run their little virtual duels. So I decided I had to let some of them go.

Why should any of you care? Because four of them got named after Mr. Ellis and things associated with him. While some other bastard got Spider Jerusalem, I give you:

    Warren Ellis
    Internet Jesus
    Anna Mercury

The password for all four is "spider". Feel free to take them for your own.

    ...ah so Warren's yours.

I poke in once a day and work my character up a few more exp. I've no idea how people have gotten to the higher levels, it's taken me forever to get this far. On the plus side, it's a fun little diversion in the evening's browsing.

you spam your character on different mediums like facebook, twitter, irc, msn, forums, etc and hope that other people challenge them.
I think that's how people get their characters up so high, that's how you did it with those old army games where you get people to click your link, and for every person who clicks the link you get x more undead grunts.

It's a really worthless 'game' in my opinion - because the game seems to be 'how much can you spam people' rather than anything that you can do with the random number generator within the game itself.

So, good for pre-teens, but in my opinion worthless for anyone older.

(I'm still dreaming of a decent pokemon-like game for my iPhone to waste away those empty hours sitting outside petrol stations at 3am)

Every time I try to view the "brutes" I get an error message saying the sight is down for maintenance. Anyone else having this problem?

ChrisD: The site is very often down for maintenance. No idea why. Try back later, it will be back.

Reynolds: Like I said, it's more of a toy than a game.

Others: Since you still progress even if you lose, how far you advance is really a function of how patient you are. You do advance much faster if you can get a whole bunch of people to make 'pupils' connected to your Brute, but I have a bunch that didn't have any pupils and still rose to the 8-10 range pretty quickly.
