The idea of a Whitechapel Mix Swap was tossed around in one of the "listening to" threads, and I figured SOMEONE had to start it, so here's the deal. Are you interested in participating in a mix swap? Are you okay with overseas addresses (though if you aren't, that can be worked around)? Are you interested in making album art for your mix?

Fear not, such a thing will exist. If you are interested in such a swap, post here so I can get an initial count. If there are enough interested in such a swap, more details will follow, but I suspect such details will be along the lines of "email me with your mailing address and a request for a mix so I can send out the mix requests to people to select a theme for a mix so that they are blindly sending out mixes to awesome people" or some such.

For those of you who aren't doodlers by trade or nature, fear not, this is not some sort of "let's judge people on their art abilities!" idea, but more "let's judge people by what they listen to!" idea.

Just kidding.

But really, people of all visual artistic abilities are more than welcome to apply. Album art is not a term that is solely restricted to doodlings. Photos, collage, computer, it's not so much the "how good is this" output but rather a "how much effort and love went in to this package" kind of thing.

So for theme I mean a wide range of things. It could range from a mood for a mix (like the "I want something to play while I'm making angry art and pouring my soul onto a canvas. Fear. Anger. Pain. Etc) or types of music (eg: "I'm interested in things with ukeleles!" or "I can't get behind this hip hop thing. Make me a mix with delicious awesome hip hop for someone turned off by top forty crap). Even more vague requests are possible, like nifty quotations or mixes based on scenes in movies.

Some good (and some bad) examples of themes can be found here, on TinyMixTapes, which is a site that creates mixes based on reader suggestions.

Examples of mixes I would totally want to make/have made/have gotten in the past:

"I wish my life were a Wes Anderson movie"
"Black Metal: an Incomplete and Biased History"
"Beautiful and varied piano music"
"A mix that would inspire me to run all the way to the Atlantic Ocean"
"INAPPROPRIATE PORNO MUSIC"
"I'm finally beginning to see the world in full color again"

etc.
