    Surachai - Designed Deficency
Just going to drop this here and walk away. This shit will suck your soul dry. It's some of the harshest modular synth + grind ever.

Arson Anthem is a Southern Hardcore punk project whose lineup is as follows: Mike Williams (vocals; Eyehategod), Phil Anselmo (guitar; Pantera, Down, Superjoint Ritual), Hank Williams III (drums; solo, Assjack, Superjoint Ritual), and Collin Yeo (bass guitar).

Sort of a more balls out version of Superjoint. I'm kind of weirded out about Phil with short hair now.

Circle takes the square are fantastic, can't wait to see 'em live sometime...

band on a label i work for are releasing their debut full length in october, there's a sneaky peak of the recording sessions here and it's AWESOME. think Capricorns mixed with opeth and Neurosis with some kylesa and clutch thrown in the ring.

@joe.distort I really hope to see Blockade live within the next couple years. I was trying to make it out to MDF this year but it didn't quite happen.

Did you manage to get your hands on a copy of Deconstruct?

Uhhh, the dude from Baroness who does the art for a ton of bands (including the new Kylesa album) is fucking AWESOME.

Saw Cable and Rosetta open for Giant Squid and Grayceon last night. IT WAS AMAZING. Also turns out that the guitarist in Rosetta was my TA from my freshman spring visual studies class. Random and also amazing.

Seriously, support the fuck out of the new Giant Squid album, it is INCREDIBLE, they are so talented, and every label that has ever picked them up has been in the process of going under (which I was told may happen with their new label, which is really sad).

    @ Moon S - I know I'm all over that show.

I feel that I should like the new Giant Squid more but something about the vocals seems off. Rosetta on the other hand are spectacualr. Saw them in Sydney in a tiny little university venue last year. Exceptional show, very friendly guys too. I still have Wake/Lift on heavy rotation. Can't wait for their next release.

On the topic of Rosetta I wholeheartedly recommend Zodiak. A Philly supergroup of sorts with Mike Armine from Rosetta and one of the guys from Balboa.

So excited to hear Baroness are coming here for Soundwave. New album in in October too. The cover's gorgeous as always. Love me some John Paizley art.

yup, i got 54/300 of the tour version when i saw em in june again! i have every HS record except the 5" and the IRON LUNG collaborative project.

the new HUMMINGBIRD OF DEATH is a lot more metal than the early, blasting fastcore stuff and still fierce, even if the lp cover is FUCKING TERRIBLE hhaha CHECK IT.

Well, if we're going local now - Must Not Kill. Death Metal from the uterus of Tampa.

Anyone here into Ephel Duath? Despite the name, they pound out some pretty impressive freaky angular metal with touches of jazz skronk here and there.

hey, ive been dropping local bands on every music thread on here. theres little difference between local bands and "national" bands except who i get to see more often :)

@offtandiscord - That's really great stuff. Currently loving the Silvered Sickled Hand track. Thanks for sharing.

The amount of superbly talented Whitechapel folks is staggering and intimidating.

For those of you that love Pig Destroyer (and I know you're in this crowd), the Washington Post just wrote up a really nice article about them and grindcore/death metal in general. It's written by an outsider to the genre, but it's well researched, thought out, and informed.

    It can be found here!
