    @ joe.distort / celan - thanks a bunch!

    @ dorkmuffin - I have heard the name Coultron.. isnt he popular on the interwebs? Might be a fun show. Whats World Cafe's policy on bringing photography gear?

    @IcelandBob

    Last year was the first time that they'd played as the original lineup since 1995. They'd done a few gigs in the intervening years with a different line up.
    That was one of the last gig's at London's Astoria.

    This year they're playing at Shepherd's Bush, and played earlier in the year at Wolverhampton Wulfrun hall

    Godfodder in full this year...

    The last two shows I went to were P.O.S. and Brother Ali, both at First Ave. I'll be seeing some local bands on my birthday too (Friday). We love our local shit up here...

    After the Pixies show you could by a 2-disc CD recording of THE SHOW YOU JUST WATCHED. Amazing. Unique. I got, like, #108/1000. $25.

    They played all of Doolittle and the B-sides, plus some singles from other albums in the second encore. The second encore is the only thing that changes night to night in their 3 NYC shows, I beleive.

    Sonny--Nice to see another Minnesotan here. :) Which Ali show did you catch? The family and I were at the Friday show, and that was amazing.

    I'm not going to Propagandhi tomorrow, I just can't afford it, especially as I saw them fairly recently, this is only made ok by the fact I'm going to see Random Hand and Dan Potthast next month instead :)

    Is that Entombed as in Swedish death metal Entombed? I saw them a few months ago when they came to iceland. they were crushingly brutal....

    so stoked to see the VANDALS play their christmas record on friday night, then the MINIBOSSES play the final rock show at above mentioned art gallery/venue on saturday.

    Saw Dir En Gray at the blender last month. Despite their questionable origins, they kick ass live. It was cute to see them lose it and grin like fools at the end of the show, due to the overwhelming reception. I guess "making it in USA" still holds some allure, even to the well established bands out there.

    The Minibosses rule. I love their version of Castlevania III. Has more soul than the Advantage version methinks.

    I'm taking my 6 year old to the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs tomorrow night, she's pretty excited about it. I have tickets to the Pixies in March and I'm pretty excited about that.

    Just got my ticket to see Tortoise locally at an itty bitty bar. Should be great. I've seen them a few times before, and they were honestly the best show I've ever seen ... it was the first time I left a "rock" concert feeling as if I had just seen "musicians," if that makes sense. Not that other bands aren't ... I guess what I'm saying is that I had the same sense of bewilderment I would have had leaving a symphony, or an old jazz band. They are the only band I know of who can have four guys playing one set of huge vibes, and make it rawk. The way they constantly change instruments and roles, and reproduce every sound on the albums ... its impressive. Plus, when you walk into a bar and on stage are 2 big drum sets, both at the very front of the stage, you know its going to kick ass. Show is about a month away; I'll report on its ass-kicking-ness.
