Wow. Amazing response. Absence makes the heart grow stronger!
@ Pauljholden - Great costume. You going to colour it? @ Andre Navarro - Ha! Brilliant spin on a classic. Coming in early and strong. @ Afua - Damn, some beautiful sketching... and a get free out of jail card. What did you do? Bail Warren out of prison back in the bad old days? @ Struthersneil - Love the espresso details, and keeping up the Navarro Bat refs. @ Jamaicad - Dicsotastic. @ sseloske - Reminds me of Hey Zeus from Leboski!
@WARREN - THANKS!!! and no worries -- life happens -- i'll be around. you've got work to do. empires to run n all that
@PaulJholden - oh man - that's pretty fresh - I crave colors! gimme gimme!
@Mushi - I dig the Design -- I'd like to see what it looks like finished. very watchman owl-y
@Rootfireember LOVE the gesture
@struthersneil -- rad and creepy -- score!
@jamaicad - bwaaaaahahahahaha - nice work -- i've got a soft spot for water color. he's fierce
@sseloske -- i like that-- its charming. nice catch phrase too :p
@ Chris G - the colors on that are pretty tough! smooth a$$ tuxedo masta!
@Andre Navarro -- that's friggen hilarious. Thanks for the art-love. I can't be a bum tho - rules are Rules. I've gotta find a faster way to color my stuff i guess- i mean a page a day isn't too bad on average but when i get into very detailed backgrounds ::smh:: it can be a lil exhausting having to make a million paths in illustrator. OOh illustrator -- why do you hate my rickety bones? I took my pencils and darkened them up a lil n photoshop n added a smidgen of color. But i have a bad way of making digital organic so it looked like i cheated a lil but i TRIED I DID >___<
my thanks to 265, jack crowder, carlglover and Yoav
@ Yoav - pulled Warren out of a burning building and resuscitated him with whiskey n cigarette fumes and he pulled me out of the ball pit at chucky cheese when i went in head 1st and my hair got stuck in the baby shredder ::tear::
this sucks but just so i dont get any free passes and stick bythe rules -- here:
the thing with illustrator is -- whenyou rush it -- it LOOKs like you rush it :/ sorry --- i'm up to my armpits in deadlines
Solid material this week, everyone. So much... sass.
I thought pink hair was going to be "the thing" this week (possibly because it was the first thought that popped into my head for this prompt), so I'm surprised by the number of actual flamingo-esque headwear. You kids and your wacky imaginations.
Anyway, I went the less action-packed route and focused on the eccentric, bookish loner. As I normally do.
Due to overwhelming demand (well, at least two people - or maybe one and I mis-read) here's the Flamingo in blazing pink...
(Original was a quick pencil sketch in my moleskin, photographed. This is a scribbled redraw of the same photo in photoshop and coloured in photoshop)
@annie - I LOVE that.
(Also: those interested in flaming pink superheroes may want to read The Simply Incredible Hunk, written by Malachy Coney and drawn by me - some 10 years ago now - you can read here on myebook.com - apologies if this blatent plug is out of order on the forum/thread, I'll happily remove it if so...)
@ Afua: You prove in one drawing what I've spent the last four years trying to convince people - Illustrator can kick cosmic ass in the right hands. That's amazing!
@ Everyone: There are more man-bulges in this thread than an entire lifetime of David Bowie concerts. And somehow, I can't find it in myself to complain about that :p
