@Art Grafunkel: And you were worried we wouldn't want to see what you claim was a "derivative" work... Dude, your art is so pretty, I'm up for looking at your shopping list scribbles. But THIS... this is the work of a very sick genius. Kudos, sir. The leg position is the icing on the cake.
I just have to say, this is my first thread and I've had the best time looking at everyone's stuff. It's truly inspirational. And I had so much fun being apart of it... Warren this should happen way more often.
i'm new here. i feel like i just snuck in to a room full of old friends and i'm fixing to steal some of the cake left out on the table.... i'm not all that good with the net so i dont really know how to upload a drawing...
yay! it worked.... i did this sketch today at a meeting with some copec markers. sorry i didn't have any reference so dont look too closely at the gun and plane, i hardly ever draw either of them(i've drawn a few more planes than guns) i went with the 'flamenco flamingo' not too sure why.
p.s. the other pieces people have done are blowing my mind! you all rock! :~) now it's time for me to google who the hell this flamingo character was back in Contact Comics!
Here's my contribution. I was going to do a whole sequential page but my weeks been pretty busy. I might actually finish it just for myself at some point.
Kamalcoker and Matthew Childers: NICE. I dig all the details on yours, Kamalcoker, and Matthew, I'm digging it all, mostly the nice color palette! Bravo!
I want to to attempt flamingo lawn ornaments as darts somehow - and would have bet Andre or Paul would have beat me to it ... Am using Stone Cold Steve Austin as my Flamingo stand-in (but he reminds me of someone else) and 'Vigilante Notes' because I'm also on a 'year one' vibe.
Here's mine . Color and everything. I got a Punisher vibe from the decription, so I tried to get some of that in there. I used Vertigo Jones (a pic from his flickr) for a model for the face.
@DisContent - I was all like "Mmm, that's pretty good," and then I about fell out of my chair, convulsing in laughter, at the Arse Eels.
I swear, the details are always what kills me in these threads. The arse eels, Sizer's octopus with a name badge a few months ago, all those goofy little things. And not necessarily the funny stuff; more precisely, the interesting stuff.
Kudos to you all. I'd do my own, but this week I'd be doing nothing but ripping people off.
So many good ones this week. The stand outs for me (in order of appearance): Paul Holden--for being first and bringing it struthersneil, in his many incarnations Andre Navarro--reat origin story Afua robot 9000 jamaicad--for the boots rootfiremember--a "bird" gun--oh, yeah! sseloske Sobreiro--for the R. Crumb look Camdiggy Annie Wu shawnsalgado--for the tat moali--well, you know what for :D Paul Sizer--for the usual excellent job Brian le Golem--bring the weird on Laemeur--for using MS Paint, and killing it KMcleod Micheal Furious--awesome, just awesome DBed Pia Guerra Miranda Art Grafunkel DisContent--for the arse Eels reference
My last piece. I would have devoted much more effort to this one if I had the time, but I'm doing this between breaks in my writing (and horrible sleeping pattern), so I had to leave it at the sloppy lineart and simplistic coloring. But, well, there you go:
