Is this one too naughty? I was doing a photo shoot with the two ladies, and fired a random shot to unstick the view mirror. It turned out to be my favorite shot of the day. I'm not sure why, I just dig the framing.
@COOP I like the framing of that shot... It almost gives a feel of them being caught in the act of something... funny how sometimes the 'mistake' shots come out so damned awesome yeah?
Went out for a good five hour long walk at the outdoor mall place last weekend. Plenty of lovely photos were taken.
This couple I noticed waaaaay far off in a landscapey photo I'd taken earlier... I vowed to stop them and get a picture then and there. They were happy to oblige, and I got a shot on their own camera as well... apparantly it was some school dance night or something.
and cheesey mushy shot of mah boy's and mine (mine and mah boys?) hands... I'm far FAR too pale.
Historic Albany Foundation's Architectural Parts Warehouse, they do nonprofit reclamation work so people can get neat old stuff for their homes/apartments.
Playing in the Stellas at LACMA/BCAM. If you are in L.A., go see the Joseph Beuys show that is up right now at BCAM. It will kick your brains in the teeth.
Joseph Beuys! I was passing throguh Heidelberg years ago and saw the shop that sold multiples of his work. One Halloween I wanted to borrow my then-girlfriend's dog and go as Beuys and his coyote. Me wearing a fedora and a waxy blanket and holding a shepherd's crook. The dog wearing extra fur pelts. Didn't happen, though.
COOP : you take your pics with the Leica version of the LX3, right ? How does it handle low light situations, and does the lack of control over DOF bother you ?
I've got a LX2 that I haven't used since I bought a DSLR, but having something small enough to put in a pocket is really nice (even though I always have my DSLR with an old 55mm lens with me in my bag). If I had money to spend, a micro 4/3 body + a couple of pancake lenses would be a nice compromise between the LX and a classic DSLR...
I rarely go 24 hours without taking a picture. I sometimes get paid for it. Part-time pro. My Flickr Account My Portfolio and 'hire me' Website and my wife and I publish a pdf magazine about creative culture in our neck of the woods. Gallery reviews, artist profiles and all SPOKE(a)N(e) Magazine
Samples from a recent model shoot. This was also the first time I had done make-up.
oscillateur: I had a Dlux3, (which was great until I broke it) and then upgraded to the Dlux4. I love it. The sensor on the Dlux4 is made by Phase One, and it is a wonderful thing. There are some noticeable differences in the processing software, too. Bigger sensor than the micro 4/3rds cameras, too.
Not sure what you mean about DOF issues, especially with the Dlux 4, which opens all the way up to f2.0, allowing for a very shallow DOF. I couldn't find a shot at that aperture, but here's a shot of the GF taken at f2.6, a straight-from-the-camera JPEG:
I would also add that all of my pro photographer friends, to a man (and some women) carry a Dlux3 or Dlux4 as their point-n-shoot of choice.
