New Lucero! - I've listened to this a bunch of times and it's really great. Catchy rockers and heartfelt slower numbers. They're a band that can develop their sound without losing the core of what makes them great.

The Gateway District - This album seemed pretty decent at first, but the more I listen to it the better it gets. The Soviettes were a good band but I think I prefer these guys.

O'Death i recently saw these guys open for Les Claypool and i enjoyed their performance much much more than his. they play a lot of banjo and ukulele in fancy refreshing ways!

Early Man kind of a throw back to 80s speed metal. really well executed. these guys rule. i especially like a song of theirs called "war eagle".

Back when the story was first becoming known, there was a story on CBC (one of three channels we could get in Atlantic Canada at the time), and I swear everybody in all of the area happened to have their sets tuned to that channel that night. I think I heard my first Goler joke within a couple days of that.

I've been listening to the Washed Out EP (tape, whatever) non-stop for the last two weeks. I wouldn't exactly lump it together with Best Coast and the Vivivan Girls, but it's one of the best things I've heard this year.
I kind of ignored the Dum Dum Girls, but the latest Vivian Girls album sounded much too samey compared to the first one. The Best Coast tape was, I felt, a total disappointment after those fucking brilliant early songs (Sun Was High, Something In the Way).
